Get a link from the front page of the New York Times. Once you do, your rank will improve substantially.

This is just a part of backlinks but if you could get a link from the homepage of usa.gov then you will rank on the first page #1 in google tmw

  • Patience and high quality backlinks. Sting it with some high PR blog comments. You may dance a little but you will come back stronger.

You may be over optimized in your backlinking , i would suggest quality one-way links and use anything but your main keywords

You are not doing anything to penalize yourself in the rankings are you?
Domain farming, and posting your content on article sites, as well as many other things could be keeping you from a top ranking.

Click on the link in my sig and read the very first article. You could be doing one these things are discussed in the article.

    • SEO is a long process,it takes some time to show up results, so be patient. Try other SEO techniques along with link building.

Don't sweat it, you are impatient It takes longer than that usually, and a site can seem to stagnate for weeks on end but then suddenly move again. I just had that happen, a site hovering between no. 10 and 11 (ie page one and two) and then one day, after several weeks of that, it leapt to the no. 1 spot, AND started ranking for a whole load of other long-tails (and other pages) too. Took about 4 months all told, for a lower comp keyword than yours. Just keep doing what you are doing, takes a bit of faith and grim determination!

(but do check your anchor text - try an allinanchor:"your keywords" search. If you rank more highly that way than with a normal search it COULD BE you need a little more diversity. If you rank similarly both ways then you are probably fine. Not a hard-and-fast rule, but one thing to look at)
