Yahoo inlinks is giving some strange data. If I do yahoo search site:mydomain, it goes to site explorer and shows the inlinks which is a satisfactory result (around 30). At the same time, if I login Yahoo and go to 'My sites' and check the inlinks for the same domain, it shows around 200 How could that be?

There are a lot of repetitions showing from the same website. Two of the blogs where I posted comments are creating this issue. It shows many posts under the same blog where I have not even posted any comments. May be, there are some links in that post (like recent comments).

Anyone facing similar issues? Any idea of this problem? Kindly shed some light.

I've had better luck with Yahoo! than Google detecting links, but I haven't seen a difference whether logged into Yahoo! or not. Then again, I usually check while logged in, unless I'm using other software. Right now I'm using Traffic Travis, and the link fetcher seems pretty reliable. It could be that Yahoo! is giving you better information on your account simply because they're "rewarding" you for having a Yahoo! account.

I also use Traffic Travis. While fetching links using this software, it gives two options:using Google or/and Yahoo. If I give only Google, it does not show all my links (my site is pretty new). If I give yahoo, it shows all the links (but, the problem is it shows some repetitions (I dont think it is accurate). The same problem of unrelated links comes to Traffic Travis results also as they fetch the data from Yahoo.

Even while logged in Yahoo, in the Yahoo search, if I give site:domain, it gives a correct result. But, if I directly login - go to site explorer - check inlinks, the data does not seem to be accurate as there are some links (not having a mention of my site) from the same site I have backlinks.

Thanks for letting me know about that.

Yahoo is phasing out support for that tool and reports they plan to kill it. Majestic SEO might have better data, or you could try SEOmoz, or any of a zillion other backlink checkers, but really I'd personally rather spend time building quality backlinks that counting links... but that's just me.

Thanks David, for the inputs. I too have nearly come to that conclusion. My site is quite new. I spend a lot of time, writing articles for different sites with backlinks referring back to my site. As I am just new to all these things with a new site, I am just curious to see my backlinks. Ha ha...
