SEO Factors in order of Importance

Tell me if you'd list these SEO factors in different order of importance.

Here are the SEO factors in order of importance with the first one on the list being most important and the last one on the least being the least important.

Factor #1
First you need to have your target key phrase on your page before you have a chance to rank for the word. Have it on your title tag and the body of the copy. There used to be a time where if a number of sites linked to you with an irrelevant key phrase, which didn't exist on your page, you could rank high for that term but now, you must have that word on your page.

Factor #2
Inbound links pointing to your web page (or document) with your target key phrase.

Factor #3
Factor #1 was to fist have the word on the page. Factor #3 is about having your keyword in strategic places on the page like the title tag, H tags, etc.

Factor #4
Internal links on your own site pointing to page have key phrase in anchor text. That includs breadcrumbs and navigational links (if possible)

Factor #5

key phrase in the name of the web page or document. Basically in the url slug.

Would you add these factors in a different order?

Here let me give it a try...

    On-page factors...

    1. Main keyword phrase in your <TITLE> tag
    2. keyword in description
    3. keyword in url
    4. keyword in <H1> tag
    5. keyword in 1st sentence of content
    6. keyword in last sentence
    7. link to internal page using keyword as anchor text
    8. outbound link to authority page (wikipedia, google, whatever) using keyword as anhcor, and add the 'nofollow' attribute to the anchor tag.
    9. keyword in image tag (alt attribute)

    Off-page

    1. link to page using keyword as anchor text
    2. link to page using a keyword from the Google wonderwheel
    3. link to the page using the URL itself

And for Pete's sake... backlink to other internal pages... don't just slam your homepage with links and leave the other pages with no links.

This is what works for me anyway... everyone has their own "checklist" of things they use.

      Great share, thanks

In my opinion focusing on 1 keyword is better than diversifying the keywords.
If you are afraid that G will think it unnatural, or looks like spam, hehe.. it won't happen

No body mention the content....In addition, giving content a priority will be a big factor because of the new algorithm that gives more importance to the uniqueness of a content.

Another important issue that plays a very important role for on page SEO is meta description. It should be written carefully with properly incorporating keywords (page wise) within it and should be between 150 characters long.

Why do you think the order matters?

What matters is that you do the seo (period).

You wouldn't consider an engine in a car more important than the tires would you?

Look at the big picture, it's all important & order doesn't matter.

You obviously don;t know the intricate working of SEO very well or you wouldn't have to ask that question

"Intricate working of SEO" (LMAO) Typical DP response!

I'll run seo circles around you any day!

        This thread is pointless...
