As we know, Traffic = Money

High Traffic Exact Keyword Domain = Helps Greatly in SEO = Traffic = Money

compare to

Low Search Count Keyword Domain = Takes More Marketing Effort = Need to Target Much More Keyword Phrases For Traffic To Flow In = Need Much Longer Time

If you could have all the (High-Traffic) exact domains you want, do you think your IM journey would have been a breeze? (The good old 1990s)

Well I'm not doubting you, but what I can say is many are using the Adwords Keyword Tool to find keywords with High Traffic and Low Competition, and when they find a "High Traffic Low Competition" keyword that is yet to be registered, they are overjoyed.

Unfortunately, bad news is, it has been stated many times.

      Is Google Keyword Tool reliable

It is even a challenge itself to find the original and precious Exact-Match Domains, despite your lack of faith in it.

People worry too much about kw domains.

Why? Because they are lazy. Or because someone told them so and they follow the advice without evidence.

It's the same symptom as with click and get rich products. They're looking to take one tiny action (=buy kw domain name) and reap benefits for years to come with no further work involved.

An exact match keyword domain will not do much to your traffic if you not add tons of other promotional and back link strategies to it.

And doing that you could promote a non-keyword domain almost just as well.

Look at the most trafficked websites on the web. How many of them have keywords in it?

Google? what kw was that BEFORE google built its brand. Youtube? Yahoo? Facebook? Twitter? Myspace? Wikipedia? QQ? Warriorforum?

Do you see any keywords here?

If you build a real business and do some real marketing, your domain name is less important than what you had for breakfast today.

Yes true, but those are just the big boys with big bucks. They've got the capital, so they'd prefer using brandable domains instead.

Do you expect the big boys to use keyword domain, like "make money software" or "make money here" for their product/service?

Yes it is also true that many keyword domains look ugly, which is another reason why the big boys won't use such domain.

How many apple.com can you find? (And are they even willing to spend the cash to purchase it in the first place) For apple, I bet the keyword domain help them in their marketing journey significally as well. However, overall big boys don't fit into the above scenario.

The impact of using an exact-keyword domain, have greater impact to us average IMers then the big boys.

Great advice Ralf, too many people look for shortcuts in this game. You should have a clear strategy for any business venture, particularly SEO.
