Any suggestions to rank from page 2 where I am currently to shift to page 1 and even beat the G maps?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Ben, I'm also from Manchester coincidently.

Have you added your business to Google Maps? That is the most important thing you can do.

claim or create your listing in Google Places.
Jazz it up with informative and kwd rich text , Images and Videos.
Build citations as much as you can
Get real reviews as much as you can(naturally).

      for organic rank:
get backlinks with anchor text structures as follow:
      kwd + city

dont forget you need to optimize your site pages for local seo.

check the folllowing site i own:
      go to google canada
      type : carpet cleaning montreal
see : QUALITY 1 Carpet Cleaning ranked #1st page in Google Places.
and also Organic QUALITY 1 - Carpet Cleaning Montreal Call: 514-581-4543 | Upholstery Cleaning | Area Rug Cleaning

the anchor i used for link building is carpet cleaning montreal

      Its that simple

Speaking as an Agency-level SEO, I second kfira's advice suggestions, right on target, exactly what I would have said

Yeah I would say this is quite necessary given the current state of your site. You opened yourself up to constructive criticism when you ask for help: so do not take this the wrong way.

the top header is a decent start but as was mentioned some good pictures and if possible video would really help on your homepage. at the very least do some shots with your cell phone/camera phone. And perhaps at least one video doing some panoramic shots of your location. In the few seconds that it takes for viewers to take in these images you can really make an impression.

It is just one click to the next competitor so you need to take your best shot on your homepage.

remember to have regional terms included in your keyword local terms: such as "the San Francisco Bay Area"

Backlinks are going to be your best friend some free solutions are forum profiles, forum signatures, web 2.0 properties (sqidoo, wordpress, blogspot, etc), and article submissions. For local you would probably only need about 20 quality links to move you to page 1.

Another suggestion I have is to analyse everyone on the front page and see how they are SEO'ing their site. You can also try to Google search their url and find some of their backlinks.

kfir summed it up nicely. Use this as a checklist, implement an ongoing link building strategy, and enjoy the results. Good luck.

Nothing is impossible, yes you can get on higher seats, all you have to do is to opt for sound SEO strategies and practices. But be sure you do generic SEO.

    Hello,

Well, you can notice that in local business, the results now appear at the top for the majority of searches you can obtain additional benefits by submitting your site to local results. So, my advice is that you should think about the fact that many people will want to deal with a local company. I hope it would help you !!

    Thanks!!

Looking at your profile, consider adding an H2 Header.

Then looking at your links, it looks like your domain needs a little bit more link diversity. Your backlinking strategy appears to focus mostly on the root domain, you could also link a few inner pages.

Anything high pr is probably going to give you a boost. Because your PA and DA (page authority and domain authority) are relatively low compare to other sites. This is mostly due to the lack of links coming from multiple IPs.

I run an offline business targeting local customers. My online efforts have worked great for business.

Add a blog and target more keywords with posts - always optimizing for your town and surrounding towns.

Create another website with unique content. Then approach other personal trainers and fitness-related sites for a link exchange. However, don't do reciprocal linking. Instead, link from your site B to their site and ask the other site to link to your main site. Each of you get a one-way link. I wouldn't do this thousands of times, but a hundred or so will do the trick (as well as other backlinks).

Go to CommentLuv Network and add great comments on the fitness blogs linking to your site for backlinks and networking in the fitness industry.

As other people have said, create a Google Places account. Add as much content as you're permitted - photos, videos, details, coupons, and then ask clients to write reviews. List a local landline telephone number - not a toll free number.

List your business with local directories.

Go to the your top-ranked competitors and reverse engineer their backlinks. You can likely also get backlinks where they did - especially if they're blog comments.
