SEO Traffic to Sales Page Website?

Hi,

I'm debating whether my weight loss website is going to be a content website or just a sales page. I have a weight loss course I could either sell on a sales page website or give away for free on a content website to build a huge list. I'm planning on selling physical products as well.

My question is, how do you get free SEO traffic for a sales page website with no content?

Thanks.

Don't think it's gonna happen, but what the hey... I've seen a site with
nothing but hundreds of links and not one drop of content ranked numero
    uno post-Panda bear.

    So you never know.

Have you thought about creating a different freebie, or maybe selections
from the course, and then sell the course to your list?

Ken: he might be able to pull it off with the long-tail keywords.

But like you said, Post-Panda has some surprises in it. :p

You could make your front page a sales page with a blog (content rich) traffic pulling back end.

You can do it but you would need a lot of backlinks and stuff, depending on how competitive your keyword is.

You can still have content on the site with a sales page, with an obscure "articles" link either in the footer or in the main navigation, pointing to a plethora of articles. I've seen this done but am not a big fan of doing it myself.

I agree with tpw, long-tail is best. Long-tail keywords result in more highly targeted traffic, hungry buyers. Short-tail keywords tend to result in traffic that is not very targeted, people who aren't looking to buy. Also, it is harder to get a first page ranking on Google if your keywords are short.

You asked how to get free SEO traffic for a sales page with no content. Is the objective just to get a large volume of traffic for free? Or is the most important thing that the traffic is SEO? I am guessing that since we usually perceive SEO traffic to be free, the important thing is that the traffic is free, and I am sure you would like targeted traffic, hungry buyers.

One good way to get free traffic is writing articles. If you write articles with a good keyword density (or get someone to do it for you), and put your link at the end your article can rank on the first page of Google quickly, especially if you post with Ezine articles. Be aware of Ezine Articles rules, though, they do not allow you to put affiliate links. If you can afford to have an autoresponder before the sales page, you can start building your list and have a sales page as well. Other article websites may allow affiliate links, so if that is important to you, you might want to search for one that does.

I've seen quite a lot of sites that rank first page with just a capture page.

There are several SEO processes that you may have come across or heard of while optimizing your website or web pages. A ¡°squeeze page¡± is also one of these processes often heard of as one of the best techniques for list building.
