My 50 sites got de-ranked - Did I ping too many backlinks at once?
- SEO |
I recently exported ALL of my live backlinks from Article Marketing Robot and plugged them all (about 20,000 of them) into Linklicious over a two day period to get them all crawled. A day or two after that, all my sites (about 50 of them, all unique and quality content which were holding top spots in Google) took a major hit in the SERPS, and now I get one-third of the traffic that I did get before. Ouch! They are all still indexed, but they just all lost their top rankings, which they've previously held for at least 4 months each. My first reaction was that Google slapped all of my sites, but then I thought (and I actually am hoping) that maybe it was because I put all these links into Linklicious in such a short span of time. And if that's the case, I'm assuming my sites will eventually bounce back. Also, Google Webmaster Tools shows nothing wrong with any of these sites.
I know you probably can't give me exact answers to my questions because it varies by situation, but I'm basically just curious whether or not getting that many backlinks crawled that fast will knock one's sites down a bit? I used to think not, because if you did, you could just backlink your competition into oblivion. But now I'm having second thoughts. So has this happened to you or do you know of any other case studies related to this? Did your/their sites come back? After how long? Thanks!
