Good Quality Content=LESS Clicks!?!

I got scared my main adsense site would get dethroned by Google due to it being kind of a crappy site only made for adsense. So I added some good, quality content, made new pages and spent a lot of time on it. I'm proud of how good it looks now but I went from a 4-5% CTR to a .4%. However, my bounce rate has gone down and Time Spent On Site has dramatically increased.

I hope that this will pay off in the end by hopefully getting organic backlinks and bookmarks but it sucks at the current moment.

Yes, some of my really good quality sites have some of the lowest CTR. So I can confirm what you are seeing. Mediocre content will yield a high CTR....sadly.

There is another way of looking at it. You make good content and put in a lot effort, your clicks go down, but your ranking stays or goes up. Your traffic goes up, your trust goes up. It is easier to sell affiliate products and ditch Adsense at that time.

Click collectors don't realize this, which is a good thing.

I'd rather take a lot of traffic, earn goodwill and trust, AND have the delicious option of monetizing my traffic with methods OTHER than Adsense. When I get large enough, I can even BRAND myself or my site.

That is building a business, collecting clicks is not a business.

Excellent point Dellco. It's a double-edged sword indeed. I guess I'm finally paying my dues with this.

Good content + good adsense optimization + high paying keywords = high earning from Adsense.

Good for you bro. Yes it sucks at the moment but you'll really feel, not only proud but, thankful because it organic back links always give rewarding results. You're on the right path with this.

    Hi Dminorfmajor,

I faced the same thing but now getting consistent traffic.

More Quality Traffic = More Money.

Additional efforts I did brought more traffic:

    1. SEO site wide and on page.

    2. Put Facebook Comment Plugin on each post

    3. Submit Articles to Directories

    4. Participate in Forums & Yahoo Groups

Monetized my sites further with Amazon, CB and recently CPA offers.
Started Listbuilding early because this effort would be valuable later on.

Just sharing. Maybe you might find this useful.
