Broad vs Exact: A Tale of a Website with No Visitors

This is probably a given for most everyone here but maybe for some newbies this would be helpful:

When using Google's keyword tool, ALWAYS make sure Exact Match is selected and not Broad. I forgot to do this a year ago and built an entire site around a search term that has hardly any searches.

A year, and plenty of other projects later, I'm now looking at how I can go back and create a lot of new content for this site to start ranking for keywords that actually get some traffic.

Just to give you an idea, my original main keyword for this has a Broad Match of 2,400 searches a month. Exact Match however is only 110.

Lol, you're not the only one. when I started off I created 5-6 sites in the same way...the traffic is ridiculously low, even though they're well ranked.

Also a note for newbs...most newbs try to chase keywords that are far too difficult for them. Pick something easy...this usually means exact match search volume around 1000-1500. I know it doesn't sound like a lot of traffic, but you will have some dud sites in the beginning and you need to have traffic to test them.
