Let suppose if I want to rank in for single keyword like "thanking".

Then which will have a better impact to get faster page one rank if someone searching for exact word "thanking" based on the example below. Is it:

www.example.com/thanking

Or

www.example.com/thanking-us

The keyword itself won't be in the domain name. So which wuld be the better choice solely on this criteria?
#choose #higher #keyword #link #ranking #url

Well first off that will be quiet the challenge. I would focus on the word train dog because dog is just way to board.

I know that. I am just saying "let's suppose". And i am not talking about if the word is hard to rank but which is better to put on the permalink. will it be /dog or /train-dog.

I would try to go longer the train dog. That will be ultra competitive as well. If I was you I would find a longer tail keyword to focus on.

I think they both have an equal chance. What will determine a faster rank on the first page of Google is: how well your on page optimization factors are and how many high quality backlinks you have with "thanking" as the anchor text. Hope this helps.

Are you speaking from experience? Also, how did you determine this?

Yes, I have many years of experience with SEO. I've found that off page optimization factors (more importantly, high quality dofollow backlinks) are given much more weight than on page optimization factors (eg: words in a domain name). Don't get me wrong, on page factors are still important, but dofollow, anchor text backlinks are Mainly what determine your rank for a given keyword.

Take, for example, the keyword "click here". Type that into Google without quotes & what comes up out of over 1 Billion results?: Adobe, a website that doesn't even have the words "click here" on the home page! Why is this? Well, so many other sites on the internet have linked back to (hence, provided a backlink to) the Adobe site with the words "click here" that it eventually grabbed the #1 spot for that keyword! Fascinating, isn't it?

well, the best approach is to have your keyword consist of multiple wordings or a phrase, so on this criteria, the second one is good.
