I'm not impressed with some of the link packages I've seen. I'm really really not impressed with the vast amount of garbage thrown everywhere in the name of linking.

I know there are a bajillion ways to create links, but if you had to pick a number one method of link building for your own sites, what would it be?

My favorite is social bookmarks combined with pinging...

RSS feeds + a bit of pinging does wonders...

Also, submitting to different article directories. I'm no expert, but getting a few articles on the top 10 directories is great... quality backlinks, regardless of how much traffic the actual directory brings in.

And my other: Site directories, a quick search can bring them up, as well services to do submissions for you (recommended).

Mostly I love Social bookmarking because that's what really social bookmarking sites are for to promote an article or your site.

Blog Post links wherein the keywords being inserted are not spammy looking. This means the keywords looks natural.

    1) If I'm trying to rank a page in the SERPs, then Wiki.

    2) If I want direct traffic, then niche forums (awesome/easy traffic).

Rank? Wiki is only a nofollow link though. does it improve rankings?
