Articles and Duplicate Content

Can someome please answer a simple question:

If I write an article with say 2 key phrases inside which link to my website and then put that article on say 20 Article sites will google think its duplicate content?
I ask this because I wrote an article which I submitted to a high ranking blogg, which I would imagine did wonders for my SEO, however about 2 weeks later other websites had nicked it from this high ranking blog to post on their own blogg. They kept my links but would the power from the original blogg be lost because the article had been duplicated on a few other sites. If so should I be only putting an article on 1 article site only?

Thanks

Duplicate content is only very bad if you have it on the same IP address,
else google mostly ignores it from case studies I've read, and from personal experience some auto-blogging sites with wp-robot they rank just fine and it's random copied content

Duplicate content is only very bad if you are trying to shmooze google. Has nothing
to do with the same IP. Sites like facebook, amazon, gasbuddy, youtube, etc. put
      that myth to bed.

You can paste the blog post url in Google to see whether it has been indexed or not. you can't force Google to crawl and index your blog at a faster rate, if crawler is going to find useful and unique content on your blog then it will automatically be taken care of.

Yes its always adviced that the Content should be posted on your site first. After indexing in google ,then you can publish it on other article directories. Its also adviced to make relevant changes in every article before submitting it to each directory.
