Will Google Index Wordpress Search Results?

Hello,

I use Wordpress to build websites. I am not sure whether Google will index the search results. Say, when we type a keyword in a site built with Wordpress, we will get a page like

http://www.abc.com/?s=keyword&Search.x=52&Search.y=14

Will this page be indexed? What if I add backlinks to this page?

Does anybody know the answer?

Thanks a lot!
Victor

I have tried to index a few search results page myself and didn't see them indexed. but I did not try very hard. This is a really good question. I have seen other sites with indexed search pages but I am not sure about the wordpress factor.

Just do a Google search for site:http://www.abc.com/

That is the best way to see what Google is indexing. Next step would be to use robots.txt or a plugin to stop those search results from getting indexed.

Wouldn't google have to submit the form to get the search results pages...?

No, Google doesn't need to submit the WP search form.

All you have to do is create an internal link to the search page that includes your keyword.

This is not my site just a random blog I found on the Wordpress home page.

Create an internal search link like this (poker), the page is dynamic & created each time you follow the url.

this is correct. Google crawls hard links. It does not perceive any resulting pages that it does not see and therefore does not crawl.

You can get an seo boost by taking your most popular keyword searches in making a hard link list of them and placing them on your blog. typically people placed this list in the lower portion of the WordPress navigation

Actually, the backlink/url to the dynamic search page that only exist when a url is indexed can be placed anyplace on the net.

Basically keyword stuffing from external backlinks, too internal pages that don't even exist.

      Just a heads up...

The example url you posted has some useless parts at the end of the url/string.

The part of the url in red can be removed:

      hxxp://www.abc.com/?s=keyword&Search.x=52&Search.y=14

The red part of the above url is created when your sites theme uses an image as a submit button for the search form. The x/y number values will change depending on the location that is clicked on the submit button.

So, If you hard code a search page url/link make the url like this:

      hxxp://www.abc.com/?s=keyword
