My site is all about video games and all my adsence keywords are video game related but I'm getting that? Things about music, things about PPC, things on adsense. Some times were I have the picture ad it is something related to video games. How exactly do I go about specifying whats displayed a bit more (Please note I am a HUGE adsence noob)

Create an ad channel something like "video games" and this should give you better targetted ads for your site.

It can take up to 24 hours for google to find relevant ads for your site.

Google is going to make its own decisions on what ads to place on your site. there are few things that you can adjust that affect what ads will be placed on your site( like public service announcements ).

The reason you're seeing a disconnection in theme at times is because of the recent advancement in personalized search which is connected to Google ADWords.

Google records your personal content preferences by recording what sites you visit. Google is getting this data from ISPs. by using this data Google can present advertisements in Google ADWords that Google knows you are interested in.

For example: Say there are 2 sites running Google ADWords. You visit domain A which is all about fishing accessories. Google records this activity to your psychological profile.
when you visit site B that is also running ADWords the Google ADWords code transmits your IP to the Google AD words server. The Google ADWords server then pulls your psychological profile and determines that you are interested in fishing accessories. The ADWords script then pulls advertisements relevant to fishing accessories.so each visitor to your site including yourself will get personalized advertisements at times.for me over the last four months I am constantly presented with Google ADWords that would lead me to a sword shop I frequent.

from the screenshot you have shown it looks like you may have recently visited something related to music education. Would that be correct?

NastyBlast - thanks for the info.

I was just going to post a question about Adsense not paying. My site is highly targeted to a keyword that has a CPC of between $3.00 and $5.00, but yet, it seems like I'm only getting paid 10 cents.

So what's the point of even having Adsense on a site if they're not going to pay you for what you've targeted? I may just take them off and see how many Affiliate sales I can make without them!

There is no such keyword that pays that much. The world would be rich! Be happy with to 10 cents per click, and be even happier when you get the rare click worth a couple of dollars.

Sorry, I didn't mean the keyword PAID that much, the advertiser pays the CPC, and if I'm supposed to get 65% of $3.00, I should be getting more like $1.95 (not 10 cents.) I will try the contextual targeting tool, sounds interesting and should give a better look at what I should expect. Thanks for your info.

The Content Network advertisers do not pay the same as the search advertisers pay. They pay a whole lot less for advertising on The Content Network than on the search page. You get 68% of 'what the advertisers pay' to advertise. And that can be a variety of amounts depending on the bids and where the ad shows up on ypur page. The higher the bid the higher on your page they will be displayed. If someone clicks the last ad on yor page, you will get a whole lot less than if the surfer clicks on the first ad at the top of your page.

Typically, you are only going to see 15% to 20% of what the CPC on the Keyword Tool shows.

I had the full sail university target one of my sites.
It was annoying. I went to the site and found out that it
is for young people interested in the game biz and other
related things. So it is right up your alley.

You have to understand that adwords users and some ad
networks do global ads targeting everything and anything.

      You need to some things.

First, use the competitive ad filter. Early and often. Nip
      them ads in the bud.

Second, add a targeted title, description, and a few lines of
content, high up, that coincide with your keywords. You want
to highlight ones you want the bot to read.

You can also turn off interest based ads.

Finally, you have to realize that game people are people.
They have varied interests. Even turning off interest based
ads is no sure way of not getting global nontargeted ads.

      Just go with it.

What people don't realize is that the keywords of their
site is sometimes not good adsense ads. That is, if
people have found video game info on your site, why
do they need to click an ad on video game info?

First, Adsense is spelled as so, not "adsence" haha.

Ok, so this could be 2 reasons.
Adsense sometimes checks your previous pages. Like sometimes if I'm on a site with Adsense then go to another site, it will show content related to the last. So it looks like you were on a PPC or Internet Marketing site of some sort and now they are showing ads.
The second option is there is not a lot of Adword competition.

Really, you should be able to find out the answer yourself. Pretty easy fix.

keyword is also a big factor if you are targeting a keyword that has a very low advertising value then you will not get targeted ads..

Try using section targeting by putting <!-- google_ad_section_start --> at the beginning of your post, and <!-- google_ad_section_end --> at the end of your post, in the HTML.

Or use Better AdSenes Targeting plugin if you can't do the HTML.
