Hi all

since the panda update all my adsense and physical sites have dropped massively. Most sites at the top are retail sites like amazon, tescos, eBay ect ect.

I have noticed while looking around this looks to be the case for a lot of physical type searches. Clickbump and physical review sites look to have generally dropped.

I wonder if apart from the standard changes in panda, such as crappy context, bad links, ect If they are now taking into account user stats for a site. I.e bounce rate. I wonder if that is now playing a big part in retail sites jumping up.

TheSe sites would tend to get visitors hooked into their sites for some time and users will exploring as they gave so much retail content.

Anyway just a theory - not quite sure what to do with my sites.

My sites have what I class as decent content and good alround links. Any advice would be appreciated.

I hear you, and I understand what you're asking and why.

Please excuse the observation (intended helpfully, and not critically), that in your situation, nevertheless, I would be asking a slightly different question: I'd be asking myself "How can I make my business less dependent on search engines?".

most of mine dropped too. I managed to get it all back up with some manual backlinking.

    New cycle, new rules.

When next update comes, new rules will follow. Those dropping efforts while down, will most likely stay down.

    Just a headsup.

And Alexa is right. If you're able to create a top ranking site in some niches, you better target your efforts to create new sites NOT dependent of SE's, and heavily promoted in auto pilot by visitors.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

I have micro-niche AdSense/Amazon sites that are 95%+ reliant on search-engine traffic and that were dealt no measurable blow by the paws of Google's "Panda".

And some have pretty high bounce-rates, too. Go figure ...

I have found that what has helped my newer sites bounce back is daily backlinking AND updating the content every 24-48 hours.

I have seen this work also. Add unique content to your sites regularly (in addition to offsite SEO also) and they will start working back up the ranks again. Panda seems to have knocked two things: duplicate content and stagnation...just an observation...FWIW.

Ive just seen a blogspot blog ranked #1 for a product keyword. All they've done is copied someones review from Amazon. Not just the product description but an entire review. Plus they only have 1 backlink to the page and they are outranking Amazon.

What's this about duplicate content being punished.

    I agreee with Michael Franklin,

If your sites have lost rankings, then really you need to start building links more aggresively and perhaps add new content. As long as you will these two points, Google has no other option other than to hoist your site back to the top!
