A Majority of People don't know how Backlinks work...

This is something I come across each day. Anyone of you who have a Wordpress blog or any other site for that matter will know this..

We all use a spam trapper like Askismet for example, and it is surprizing to me how many people WASTE their money on these "auto-backlink" softwares that post their links on completely irrelevant pages!!??

Okay so this is more for newbies to the online money making world, but either PAY a professional, TRUSTED company or freelancer to do it for you manually because 99% of Auto Backlink softwares and programs will:

1. End up in the spam folder (sure to be deleted)
2. Get your A$$ Google Slapped faster than you can say BAM!
3. Be a COMPLETE waste of your money.

Among with a million other reasons. If you want to get QUALITY backlinks, best do it yourself. If you want to rank for a keyphrase, let's say "weight-loss reviews", you need to do some Google searching for YOUR EXACT KEYWORD and post on blogs and forums MANUALLY.

Read the post that person has written or just pick up a tip or two and comment on what is written in the post, DONT write "nice post" or "bookmarked" because webmasters have a keen eye for these spammers, trust me. Make the webmaster feel that he added value to your visit and he will gladly post your link, and it will possibly stay there forever (or until the site goes down)

When you link to irrelevant sites, your link has "weght-loss reviews" in the url somewhere, and you post on "pc games", it will be only a matter of time before the Google masters spot it and flag your url, and you surely dont want that.

The point I'm trying to make, stay away from auto backlink software UNLESS there is a LOT of proof that they promise what they deliver.

Anyway, thanks I feel better now. Keep well guys n girls
Ettienne

great post, i grabbed some free hosting and a free domain name the other day to test out the back link programs to see how fast you did get Google-slapped.I first let the site get indexed then used a free popular online submitter and was banned within 20 min of completing the backlinks (Google checks every 5-7 min). all in all a stupid investment but hey, less competition for legit marketers right? so i guess every cloud has a silver lining

You're absolutely right but it sure is hard to sell people on the notion that spamming Blogs will get them anywhere. And even if you get past all the gates, the owner of the property will be by sooner or later and delete the silly spun nonsense post that made it past the gatekeeper.

As you say, if people would get a list of decent, relative high ranking PR sites and intelligently answer five or six posts a day they'd get great backlinks that would stick. Do that consistently for a month and you'd have around 150 quality backlinks. But spamming is so much easier. So it goes...

2 thumbs up from me! Build it solid, give the search engines what they want and you'll be at the top long after the "flash in the pan" wizards have been forgotten!

For sure, I've reached number one slots on Google by having about 200 backlinks for certain sites, all this hype about "100k backlinks for $x.xx" is simply not neccesary for many niches out there, unless you actually WANT to tackle the "weight-loss" niche.

Do proper keyword research and build a site with a great phrase with minimal competition and you might even rank high with 50 backlinks.

    Ettienne,

Your backlink articles here is focus on backlinks from blog comments. The backlink software does help to build backlink to be fact BUT the issue here is that NOT many people know how to use it in right manner thus it cause more harm then good.

The software help us to automate the task but there must be a limitation that people should observer while doing this.

Regarding blog commenting within keyword themes, not necessarily it must be from same themes. For example if you promote "weight loss" you can also comment on blog that talk about "diabetes", "heart attack" etc because this categories as relevant to the weight loss. Obesity can cause diabetes, heart attack so people need to weight loss to get rid of it. So relevant themes.

I agree, article backlinks are a different story. And as for your quote above, diabetes and heart attacks are RELEVANT to weight-loss, so it can't do any harm, it works. But these auto-softwares posting blog comments, the same comment for 10000 sites of no relevancy is sure to get you slapped

While I agree that the spammy comments are are annoying as hell, they aren't entirely useless. It's a numbers game. People aren't expecting to get through with their comments, they are looking for the auto approve blogs (for the most part). Plus some people do approve the "great post stuff". So if you post to a million URLs and only 1% get approved (via auto approve blogs or otherwise), then well, do the math.

I don't do this myself, but the fact that it works is the reason why people do it. Don't hate the player hate the game.

And I do agree that some of the best backlinks are the ones you do yourself, but I wouldn't rule out automated software altogether. Like any tool, it's all in how you use it.

That's bullsh*t. You can't get a site banned from backlinks.

If that was true then Nuke in SenukeX just took on a whole new meaning. Yes, you can cause a temporary decrease in rankings or what's called the "google dance", but typically backlinking won't kill your site. Again, if that was the case, just give me a few hundred bucks and the list of your top 10 competition and I'll see what I can do

edit: after reading your post again it may come down to semantics. What you call "banned" I may just call the google dance. My point still stands.

It is always a good idea to put your links in blogs and forums that are related to your niche.

But if using a backlinking software will cause your site to get banned/slapped by Google than we would all use them on our competitors

Thanks Keith, yeah it seems people are all too eager to rank on page one and never actually do their homework about backlinking or other IM strategies. Just jumping into something without knowing a thing about it is sure to make any newbie give up. I did that when I started working online 2 years ago, didnt make a cent and I wondered why, I was one of that odd 1% that kept going and today I'm glad I did.

People just need to start noticing the difference between a fake review and an ACTUAL review before purchasing any type of software. 5 reviews - BAD, 100+ reviews - good. Oh and of course checking revies from at least 3-5 different sites will also ensure that you dont waste your money.

I just wanted to say something about Akismet.

I am not sure if it has recently gotten better, but before it used to just go crazy. If u didn't comment on a blog post within 2 months. your spam.

That really got me angry when I wanted to share some thoughts with others!
