Hello,

What would you say is the easier way to get a high ranking in the search engines:
  1. Articles
  2. S.E.O. Software
I understand that a combonation of each is most effective, but since I'm new in the game I was wondering which is More Effective than the other.

Thanks,
Mike V

You really do need to use those together, in addition to other traffic generating and SEO methods. What has been highly effective for me is to write articles and submit them to a couple of the top article directories and also en masse directly to targeted outlets such as relevant high PR authority websites, blogs, and niche ezine publishers. It does help to rise in the SERPs, but far more significant is direct traffic from the articles.

None of my sites rank appreciably in the search engines because they are in some of the hottest competitive niches. What my articles do, however, is ride piggy-back on sites that do rank in the top for my keywords, and siphon off some of that traffic. It does not take many articles at all to generate an avalanche of convertable traffic when they are on relevant top-ranking authority sites and read directly by your target market.

Personally I use standard SEO methods (backlinks, on-page, etc). I do think that articles are helpful but I personally rarely use them. I used to use them a lot in the past, but it just seemed to be hit or miss with me.

That being said I do know that there are guys on WF that are making a killing with articles

I think articles work pretty well to get a high ranking. Sometimes even the article gets higher than the page you want.

What are you trying to rank?

At this stage in the game I would not recommend either.. I use both, however I see more value in Press release and Blog posting on Authority Sites.

Video also ranks faster and easier than most contextual articles.

Yeah you need a mix, not just one source for links

I like to get a mix of
    article
    forums
    profiles
    directories
    social bookmarking

This helps you rank very quickly!

For non-competitive keywords it doesn't take much really. Great on-page SEO, some high PR links from blogs, submit some articles, etc. and just keep it up consistently.

Personally I use build my rank, scrapebox for finding high PR blogs, and I do some article syndication. It works pretty well for me.

I personally hate the article approach but haven't resulted to software either. Probably need to use a combination of both and then some.

I also use standard off page SEO methods. Do not focus on few methods only if you want better results.

Your going to want to get a mix of links, like the guys above me have said. Most importantly you need to keep building links consistently until you hit page one, trust me it works.

I don't think it's a question of one or the other, I think it's a question on BOTH.

There exist countless examples, case-studies and experts to valid this point. But, my number one reason is that you want to look organic and natural to Google and that means using a diverse linking pattern.

Do you think it looks diverse having all your links and traffic from one single strategy, it's looks like you trying to game the system and Google (unsurprisingly) doesn't like that...

    I use;

    - Profile links
    - Social Bookmarking
    - Press releases
    - forum links and forum profiles
    - high quality, high PR 5-8 and .edu and authority links, See here if you want the precise b.links I useYou Do NOT Want Your Competition To Get This!MORE Rankings, MORE Traffic & MORE Money In Your Niche
    - Article marketing

... and that's just for starters, I do some other stuff as well AND I use NOFOLLOW b.links because although i don't get any link juic from the big G, it's look.... natural!
