SERP #1 and no backlinks.......

ok, so was checking out a particular niche(click bank product) and currently the website occupying number 1 spot is just over a month old with no backlinks and 1 page with just a paragraph of content. The key is in the URL with a suffice.

now the websites occupying 2 and 3rd spot also has the keyword in the URL but with no suffice or prefix's, it is much older than a month and also has more backlinks, plus the website occupying number 2 spot is the original website for the clickbank product.

The websites after 2 and 3rd spot also all have the keyword in the URL and more backlinks.

so what i want to know is, after Google's latest panda update, how the hell does a website with hardly no content, not optimized as good as the other websites, plus no backlinks out rank the original product website and all the other websites with age and backlinks?

ANYONE?

    I know you don't want to reveal the URL but without it, it's impossible to even guess, at least for me. But I'm no SEO expert. Maybe someone will know. Is it a popular niche?

    Yea, it's impossible to tell without more info. Maybe they have some really high PR backlinks that haven't been indexed or aren't showing up for you.

    I'd say as it is a new site it has shot right up to number one, it may be there for one or two days and then fall way back down in the SERPs.

    It's the Google dance, new pages are often swept to page one with little to no backlinks but will briskly move back down.

    The reason? no one knows exactly.

    For what keyword? Cant really say unless we know that. It may just be a keyword with low competition.

    If the site is optimized as poorly as you say and holds no real SEO elements, its likely that it wont be there for long.

    Also, how do you know it has no backlinks? How have you verified this?

    Something like this happened to me about a month ago. For about 35,000 competing pages, I ranked first with only 6 backlinks (none of them indexed).

    Sometimes its weird but I think Google ranks you higher if you have weird characters in the <title></title> tags.

    It's highly unlikely it's going to stay at #1.

    Certainly pre-panda, it was quite common to see default WP sites with no articles whatsoever rank very highly (I had a couple).

    Can't say I've seen it post-panda, but it does depend hugely on the competition.

    1. Its fourth here not first.
    2. Look at the competition for that keyword - there is none!
    3. That site isnt even showing on my copy of MS in the top 10 which makes me assume that it hasnt been there long.
    4. This keyword is showing 22 exact searches a month - NEXT!

    well it's occupying number 1 right now on the keyword mobile monopoly 2, im using google chrome(duno if that makes any difference)...............any ideas as to why a website like this is taking precedence over the other websites?

      Clear your browsers cache, and disable customizations based on search activity within Google. Close your browser then relaunch it.

      Search again.

      If its still there, youre obviously pointing to a different data centre.

      Either way, that keyword sucks.

    Use scroogle.org if you want to get an unbiased Google search result.

    The site in question is at #5. If you check the site at #4 (mobilemonopoly2reviewed.com) you'll see that it have even less content, ie: none.

    Also look at the site at #10 (mobilemonopoly2.com/). All it has is a "Hello World" post.

    So, as you can see there is no competition, so it's absolutely simple to rank for that keyword (at this stage)
