Crazy Traffic From Google Images

Hey everyone,

Somehow a photo from one of my affiliate sites has begun to rank REALLY highly in google images for a super broad term (e.g. "woman"). I am receiving 100 hits/day and growing from this image alone onto that page.

On the page itself I am selling a product. It's highly unlikely that any of the traffic coming in would purchase the product, so it is kind of wasted traffic.

I'm glad to have the extra site visits but is there anyway to monetize it?

Who do you think are visiting your site for these images? Men mostly?

Adsense would probably be fine, as long as it isn't against the ToS. CPM mostly.

You could also have links near other ads, pointing to other articles/images of interest.

Look at the various Advertisers in which you have relationships, for any products or services that are related to women. If they are mostly men, then add posters, books, and other product links into the pages. If they are likely women, then you can add female-specific advertising.

Amazon subsidiaries, such as Endless.com pay 15% commission and sell very well. It depends on the market.

Keep adding content, while the traffic is hot!

Run ads on the image itself. That's what I do with some of my sites and I do quite well. I actually set up sites solely to take advantage of traffic from Google Images. It works and its cool to see your traffic explode when you finally get indexed.

i t depends what your site is about, you could possibly put a dating CPA offer/banner in there if it is relevant and fits the traffic from the image you are getting to some degree

@BloggingPro - What do you mean run ads on the images themselves? Like Google ads?

I have to admit, I am only familiar with affiliate marketing for now so any input would be much appreciated.

By the way, I have no clue as to who would possibly be searching for that phrase. It could be anyone. I could see how putting up an ad could be useful, such as Google ads but is it possible to actually connect that with the image itself? So that they click image and I get paid for advertisement?

I currently use Pixazza, but I'm in the process of transitioning to another company.

Essentially its like adsense on your images, in a transparent window near the bottom. I make all of my images unclickable to foster more clicks on the ads themselves.

Do you mind sharing what company you are transitioning to?

I would also like to know who to run ads on an image. i also have one that is ranking high and I get about 150 hits a day. I do have adsense on the site but don't get much from it.

would be interested to know how to monetize the image.

Without knowing what the keyword is it's hard to say but Amazon is one way of monetizing image traffic.

As long as someone clicks on your Amazon link you'll get a commission for anything they might buy on Amazon in the next 24 hours.

    Have you implemented Image redirect?

If not, you have to! It will remove googles display of your image, and send the visitor directly to your site.

You might get banned from this, I don't know, but at least you will increase your traffic while it still is up there.

There is a wp plugin for it. Do not remember where.

What do you mean Mistermunch? You mean, they click on the image in Google Images and they get sent to my site directly instead of to the image?

Do this & you will get 100% of your Google image traffic, without allowing hits directly to your images.

Yep, it breaks that pesky Google frame inside Google images.

I run this on all my sites, most get a lot of image traffic because of my niche.

Very simple to use & gets the job done.

There was a nice discussion about 301ing your image to your page, so that you get visitors on page.

That way you could monetize visitors better.

I don't think its profitable, thus why no one ever targets ranking in GI. Plus remember, 100 hits a day doesn't do a whole lot, haha .
