create an account and validate your site there and get the backlinks report from there...
and visit some of the pages you're getting links from to see where they are from?

IF your content is very good, its possible that people may be sharing or syndicating it naturally which is VERY good.

Thanks for the reply, yh ill try that myjestic.

I am just abit worried as if it will hurt my seo, as i said i am not in the top 100, and i know it's a new site, but being low comp and having good content and good onpage seo with a few backlinks i thought i might been in the top 100.

How often do google refresh the search results?

  Wow, you need to check the backlinks, where do they come from? If it comes from good place, it will be OK. And many backlinks do not have anchor link, it will not help increase the ranking of keyword much. Anyway, it takes about 2 weeks to months to see the results of link building.

  You may find that you posted a blog comment on a page, and that site has a widget on each page which shows 'most recent comments' or something like that. As a result, you could have a link on every page on that site. This has happened to me a number of times.

Google refreshes its content in intervals of about two weeks, and if you maintain same good backlinks as you have noticed, good for you.
But i must say if it persist at such for a new site, you may face the wrath of Google.

Just fyi, a lot of times if you comment on a blog that comment ends up in a "recent comments" widget or something and appears on every page. So you can easily get hundreds of links showing in yahoo site explorer. Just see if a bunch are all coming from the same domain.

Actually this happens many times.Because sometimes the blog has a blog roll which shows highest number of comments by some commenter there and recent commetents as TBInternetMarketing said.

Some have anchor text some do not.

I checked them with yahoo site explorer and seo power suite.

Yh like i said it is a fairly low comp keyword and i have checked the other sites on page 1 and 2, and some of them have only a few backlinks and there just blog comment and stuff.

I seen in some post about pinging and getting your backlinks indexed and noticed.

Does this mean when you build some links, do you ping your own site, or do you ping the site where the links is?

yes i can share, i am fairly new to seo so i am not an expert lol

But i do read lot of stuff to learn :-)

I put links on high PR sites, blog commenting,articles,social networks...

For onpage seo you can use something like SEOPressor, i personally don't use it.

I use an EMD, keyword in title,discription,meta tags, H1,H2,H3 tags, Alt tags, keyword in bold,italic and underlined. And link to my other pages with the keyword.

But please could anyone tell me when people say ping your backlinks, how do you do it?

Does it mean just to ping your own website when you have built some backlinks or do you ping the site where you got the backlink.

You copy/paste the url of the back link into a ping tool like, e.g. pingomatic (dot) com

You could grab all the urls of your back links and use this process and put them into a mass ping tool. Just google the term to find some to your liking.
