basically i have picked a really good keyword which i think is good, I then bought a domain with the keyword as the domain name, and the next 2 days i am on the 4th page, is this good???

how long does it usually take to rank 1st page, i have picked a really low competitive keyword, which gets 5,400 exact searches monthly so it is definetely a winner...
#long #rank

There's too many variables to give you an exact answer. It depends on the nature of the competition and your on-page and off-page SEO.

However, it's probably fair to say that your site will jump up and down in the rankings before it settles down.

Yeah, I totally agree. In my opinion, the hardest thing in SEO is building backlinks. I recommend to outsource the link builder.

Can you show the competition analysis for top 10 without revealing the niche? However I think it's normal to have better ranking in the first few weeks. I always have new sites that ranked on page 2 - 5 without much off effort, got up to page 1 @ 2nd or 3rd week, and disappeared once the honeymoon period is over. Just can't get too excited about it.

I just put up My Cheap Jobs - cheap jobs | hire someone | looking to hire | get hired online - My Cheap Jobs exactly a week ago, it has the exact same global keyword searches that you have at 5400.

In 24 hours it was number 7 for the keyword CHEAP JOBS (5400 monthly searches)

Now a week later it has both the number 5 and 6 spots

Yes the top 10 sites. Do you use any software, maybe MS or TT to analyse the competition? You can post a screenshot here and mask the keyword and domain names.

My niche sites always get onto the first page in less than 2 months. Going to the #1 or #2 spot would take another 2 months of slow and consistent backlinking everyday. And sometimes more of course depending on the keyword.

It really just depends what kind of sites you are competing against on the first page of Google's results. If some of the sites have a little bit of authority to them you can expect to wait a little while before you over throw them.

If you are going up against a first page with mediocre on page SEO and a few sites with less than 50 backlinks and low PR then you will on the first page in a few weeks

    IF

You add some relevant content, and build about 50-100 backlinks with optimized anchor text

I do it all the time

According to your details I would say no more than a month you should be on the first page of Google, with some extra backlinking.

yeah i agree its all about the competition on the top 10, i think you gotta look into the sites more deeper to see how many backlinks the sites have if its a weak site....

i always do the best keyword research that i can, i guess that takes up the most time, finding the golden ones.....

    thanks for your advice

If you are building good backlinks to your site then it can take anywhere from a few days to a several weeks depending on the quality.

get to building some backlinks on a regular basis over the next three months to solidify its spot once you get it in the top spot. You might also want to get your site ranking for associated keywords... not a good idea to target just one keyword, especially when you're doing your off page seo.

Then get moving on your next site while you're doing your backlinking. And yeah, don't get too freaked out if it bounces, disappears etc.... it's called the google dance...

There are a lot of variables! Your site could "dance" for a while where it hops around.

  • This varies with every site and every keyword. So far it sounds good for you, but don't be surprised to see your site jump around a little in the beginning. This is normal.

you must consider many factors in ranking a site. It depends on the level of the competition of the keyword that you are using. All you have to do is to do proper on page optimization and build backlinks to your site.
