I have a micro niche site that is displaying adsense, but google has not indexed the site (1 1/2mo old). I did recently find out there was a previous owner of the domain name and thought maybe there was a problem with the domain name being banned. So here's my question, if the domain name is banned wouldn't it not show the adsense ads? I don't mean is the domain banned from adsense, that I've been able to check and it is not. I'm trying to determine whether or not the domain name was banned and I thought because it is displaying the adsense that would mean the domain name is not banned. Am I right in thinking this?
Thanks,
Deb

Here's one spammer blacklist checker you might try.

Thanks, I checked both. The blacklist says ip can't be found. The Banned Domain Checker says the site appear to not be banned. I just can't figure out why my site is not indexed as 4 out of the 5 microniche sites I bought were indexed. This is the only one where the domain had a prior history, so I thought maybe it was banned.

I have been wondering this about my niche site too. It's only a few weeks old but I can't get it indexed by Google (Bing and Yahoo are fine, and the site's being crawled by Google). I checked both the links above and didn't find anything. The Internet Archive didn't have anything recorded either.

One thing though, when I added the non-www domain to G Webmaster Tools I saw a message from June 2010 about a possible phishing attack. I sent a request for the warning to be removed but still nothing. Any ideas? Just be patient?

What I'd like to know is, since adsense is showing on the site can I conclude that the domain is not banned?

Might be worth writing an appeal to Google through Webmaster Tools.

Well, it all deppends on what type of site it is, It can be revived. How old is the name? How much is out there about it? Is it worth taking the time to make it live again? PM me if you are serious about getting up again.

I've read I can submit for "reinclusion request" through webmasters tool. Not sure if I want to do that as it would cause a manual review. Site is an MFA with 7 articles. It is EMD, I might consider purchasing same EMD with different extension, as I checked in the wayback archive and it was never preowned.

I simply go to Google search and type in the full domain name and see if it comes up in search. If not then its ban or not indexed yet either way its not on Google. I don't like to rely on third party tools to much and would rather go straight to the main source.

Yeah, I've done that. Nothing is there, but I can't tell if it's just not indexed yet or it's banned.

I had a site that was deindexed but I was still allowed to use adsense on it. I put some fresh content on it and asked for reconsideration and it got indexed again. If you are worried that Google won't reconsider it after a manual review then you know where your problem possibly lies. If you don't do as Google wants you can't expect any traffic from that search engine. If you don't want to make changes then you've got to look elsewhere for traffic, but you should do anyway.

very nice tip. I haven't thought it working this way but looks good. Thanks.

By the way, doesn't this give you backlinks too?.

yeah some stat sites do create a page about your site so that should count as a backlink...

Thanks, just did it. If it works I'll let you know. I just got a bad feeling this domain I purchased was banned.

1 1/2 month old site.. it is not that uncommon for it to not be indexed yet. I'm assuming you have built good backlinks to the site? But yet, Google webmaster tools support inquiry would be the best way to find out.

The best way to find out whether you can get it indexed or not is to add it to Google Webmaster Tools and submit a site map.

Then check the stats in Webmaster Tools regularly. Usually you will see at least a few URLs listed as indexed after a couple of days, and you will probably start seeing impressions in search, too. In which case, you will know you are good to go.

If you still draw blanks, then create some original content, work on some backlinks and be patient. Google doesn't ban domains as often as most people think - it is more likely that it has dropped out of the index more by accident than by design, and a bit of work will get it back there.

I learned this in a course I took a couple of years ago - add the site to Google Webmaster Tools and submit a site map to get Googles attention. Also, good, original content really helps a lot, as well as building traffic.

I've set up more than 40 sites in the last two years and have never had a problem with indexing pretty quickly using the above suggestions.

Well, I finally verified my site (code had to be in the header and not footer). Gosh it takes time learning all this stuff. I added the site and submitted sitemap. I just copied xml from wp plugin and submitted that. Google shows green arrow, I take that to mean submission was successful and downloaded 9 pages. So I guess I'll have to give it a few days.

Also, I noticed it shows google crawled my site 16-2 times a day since April, so I'm just confused as to why it's not indexed. I'll post again with the results.

Thanks to all for your help.

Just wanted to add that I noticed in my wp xml plugin, it said xml last done on May 23 and google was notified. I take that to mean that google was given a "sitemap" automatically from the wp plugin. Is that correct? Seems like doing a separate submission in Webmasters is redundant?
