bing's monthly searches vs google?

Just wondering, because bing doesn't appear to have a keyword tool; is there much of a difference in the global monthly searches?

My website is fairly new, and doesn't have that many backlinks yet and it is on the second page in Bing search results for my targeted keyword.

Currently, I can't even find my website on Google. I am also still waiting for some fresh content to index.

The GMS on google for my targeted keyword is 3500 a month, and I was wondering how many on Bing, because it seems like I'll make it to the first page of bing before google and I'd like to know what kind of traffic that is going to give me.

If anyone knows the difference, that would be helpful.

Don't expect any traffic from other search engines than Google. Currently on all my sites the traffic from search engine is 95% Google and 5% others.

Actually the statistic is not so broad for everyone else.

Worldwide around 80 percent of users are on Google.

In US, around 65 percent of users are on Google.

So there's still some purpose to using other search engines, especially if you are targeting US traffic.

That may not be true for all kinds of sites. I have sites where as much as 50% of the traffic comes from Bing & Yahoo.

Bing doesn't have an ONLINE keyword tool. They do, however, have a downloadable add-in for Excel.

I think depending on bing is just a waste of time. Instead optimize your site for google because every 8 out of 10 users use google. Choice is yours.

Here are the stats for one of my websites:

    1) Google = 92.52%
    2) Yahoo = 3.18%
    3) Bing = 2.95%

So if you are only getting SE traffic from Bing, and not Google, you're probably missing out Big Time.

Bing and Yahoo give similar rankings. So if you are still not ranking on Yahoo you will in the next few days or weeks

It also depends on what position your keyword is ranking on Bing/Yahoo on page 1.

I have many KW on Google between No1 and No 10 and same on Bing/yahoo (Different KW /pages rank on Bing /Yahoo)

But generally I can break it down as follows.
      Google 90%
      Yahoo 5%
      Bing 4%
      Others 1%

I've had some success in traffic with Bing/Yahoo but for the most part, it's been Google and I would optimize for Google.

Bing has a keyword research tool. It's located on your webmaster tools dashboard.

For an example: one keyword I'm targeting has 2,900 exact match local searches each month in google. In bing, it's 490.

There should not be any different SEO strategy to rank high on Bing. Don't know if this will help but you may try putting the obsolete (for Google) meta keywords tags in your pages.
