I'm starting a blog on my site for SEO and value added purposes. For the SEO purpose, should I use blogging software or would I be ok to just write on a regular .html file?

Do comments add any SEO value?

How does fresh content work for SEO value & would a blogging software help with that over a .html file?

Would blogging software help google index my new content quicker?

Any general information on SEO blogging would be great. I'm new to the situation, as you can tell.

Yes, wordpress is much easier to manage and has nicer layout, and most important, it's very SEO-friendly.

Writing a piece of html page everytime you publish a new blog post is a tiresome thing, so a blogging software is very much a big help to handle the generation of pages on the blog.

I've read it somewhere that comments are treated as an added value to the original content by search engines, especially Google. Comments trigger an update of content, thus will keep bots interest to the page and will have it constantly recrawled. This means better indexation.

Spiders like fresh content. If your site has fresh contents to offer on a regular basis, spiders will surely be motivated to come visit your blog or site often. Contents that are crawled often can achieve an occasional ranking boost for the keywords it represents.

Of course. One blogging platform that is exceptional at helping bloggers with automated SEO (meta details customization) is Wordpress. The other option is blogger (blogspot.com), which Google's very own free blogging platform offer.

Yes! Wordpress and Blogger has the function that automatically pings services right after you click publish button. Pinging means notifying syndication services that your blog has new content available. This means faster indexation. In fact, a blog post I publish on a blogger blog I maintain gets indexed a minute after.

Please note as well that for better indexation, you will need to gather enough backlinks to your blog, especially when you are not using blogger.
