Coincidence? I don't think so. Visitors down 50%, Impressions down 66% the very next day after I blocked the Adwords ad on adsense.

This is unbelievable. 1000 visitors yesterday in total, mostly organic.

So far today I've had 10 google searches in the last 4 hours.

Most of the fraudulent/useless traffic comes from the Display Network.
So you probably aren't missing much.
    How are your conversions?

CPM has stayed roughly the same, although with an 60-80% decrease in traffic, you can figure it out........

Literally, I have checked the SERPS, the best ranking pages I had for busy terms (which gave a good chunk of the traffic) and gone from #2 to page 4.

That's funny. Google ads normally get run on sites
that have few ads to place. Not always, but generally
they want to fill in white space. Some sites are geared
      for some google ads.

But in reality, most(?) people who get google product ads
are not generating enough ads to begin with. If you
block them, then you will indeed have a lot of white space.

They don't place ads on your site just to be placing ads on
your site. There is no unending list, as a matter of fact.
If there are none in the pool, you are SOL.

      Your impressions could nose dive.

Your content needs better triggers for adsense ads.

Don't forget that google does pay you for their ads.

The only google product I blocked was blogspot. I kept
getting a pesky blog ad that I detested. Instead of just blocking
the blog, I decided to block them all.

Had my best adsense day yesterday in a long time.

I don't think many people realize that they will get blank space
on their pages, no ads, if none are found.

Tweak your content, keywords, and most important, visitors.

You get PSA's if there are no ads, right?

I don't believe a shortage of ads were the problem. I had never seen a white space before on my site.

Personally I believe if that was an issue (unrelated ads) we'd be seeing very poor CTR + CPM but that hasn't been the case, but my thinking was to remove the Google ads would further increase these parameters, as more relevant (but lower paying) ads would be used. I do know there are some ads paying pennies, but overall the return from running these would surely be better than running an ad for Adwords......

Traffic is the key for me, and not just for Adsense... for example, I sold a Macbook Air and 2 iPads the day before last via affiliates.......let's just pray the traffic comes back.

You only get PSA's if you opt in, have not been approved, been banned,
or something on those lines. If you get PSA's and have no opted in,
you have a serious problem. Opting into the PSA's is not the default
      setting.

I always say do what works for you. If you got better results before
      blocking, you might consider unblocking.

You can also go to the new user interface and block more ad
      categories.

Did you know that you can choose to rotate your own ads if
      no ads are found?
