Links not Increasing in Yahoo Site Explorer

Hello all,

A little issue I need some help with. I've spent the last few months building links through various methods, mostly through article marketing, guest writing, blog commenting and social book marking though I have seen zero growth when I go to check my link popularity. Looking back at my records in the last three months I've actively commented on over 100 blogs and I've done so quite regularly on my favourite blogs too. If anyone has any ideas would love to hear them.

Thanks

What type of Blogs are you commenting on? Are they relevant to your Niche? Are you linking back to these other blogs?

seems like with 100 blogs you would have seen something come through. sometimes you have to force it a little with social bookmarking or linking back to where you posted your comment. BUT surely some of that would have hit by now??

I post on blogs that are relevant to my niche about 90% of the time, I sometimes link back not always though but I'll try to more often

if you are using Yahoo!Explorer on backlink checking you got think twice
      ever since Bing brought them...

it's not been report right number of backlinks..

      it's missing i would guess 75% - 90% link you buidling there..

the better way to check that, is take the link you build has been index by yahoo and google yet or not...

that's only way to know to 100% how many backlinks you really have

Agreed, you'll find that Site Explorer misses the vast majority of your backlinks. Plus, I saw a post the other day about Site Explorer being taken down soon. Not sure on the details, though.

Yahoo explorer is getting discontinued this year, and no longer truly gives you an accurate backlink account, check your google webmasters account and see if it shows zero growth. Often times yahoo site explorer has issues with http://www. vs www. so make sure you are using the http://www. in your links

Yahoo Site Explorer is being phased out in terms of adding backlinks. From what I read, you'll still be able to use it for a while, but it will be even less accurate that before without newer links. Majestic SEO is a better tool for this. Now we just need to wait until all the tools can update to switch over to using that instead.

Majestic SEO is wildly inaccurate. Just tested it agains SEO Spyglass and it is off by 1/3...will NOT be using it.

I would be very reluctant to trust Yahoo's data as the tool is soon to be shut down. Instead, try opensiteexplorer.org. More important that counting links, however, is checking your SERP results. If you are steadily moving up, who cares how many links you have...just keep building more!

Hey thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions. I've checked my webmaster tools and its stating that I have a total of 90,000+ links to my site! As of today Yahoo Site Explorer still says no change so I'll take less notice of this in the future, thanks again.

Unfortunately there is no exact method out there that really lists all existing backlinks. Both Google and Yahoo are not showing all of the links, even if they are indexed.
