My Adwords account permanently suspended

I logged in to my Google Adwords account yesterday to check my stats only to find that my account has been permanently suspended. I am a total newbie to IM and I've only run a few campaigns on Adwords starting about 2 months ago. The first campaign I ran was for an affiliate product from Clickbank, "TruthAboutAbs" in which I purchased a similar domain name and had the URL forwarded with masking to the TruthAboutAbs website. The campaign was up and running for about 1 week, and then Google shut it down. They vaguely informed me that the ads were in violation of their landing page policies.

After researching this issue on the WF, I learned that Google will eventually stop showing ads that contain forwarded URLs. I was very surprised by this because I was only following the exact directions given to me in the "affiliate strategies for generating traffic" from the TruthAboutAbs vendor. One of the techniques listed was to buy a similar domain name, forward it, and then use Adwords to drive traffic to that forwarded domain. I learned my lesson obviously and never tried that again.

I gave Adwords a break for about 3 weeks, and then once I finished building my own niche website for Amazon products, I decided to run a couple Adwords campaigns for my new website. After setting up the ad, everything was fine, the quality scores were high, and all the keywords matched up nicely with the ad content. After about an hour, I checked up on my stats, and had 0 imp and 0 clicks. When I hovered over the keywords in the ad group, it said that none of the keyword phrases were triggering my ads to show up at that time, and that I should check back later. The next time I logged in to my account, there was a message in red at the top of the page saying that my account had been permanently suspended due to repeated violations of Google's landing page policies.

I am absolutely clueless as to what I did wrong or how I violated any policies. This was extremely discouraging, and I honestly was sick to my stomach because I have been looking forward to using Adwords as a way of getting traffic, and succeeding in IM. I know that there are many other alternatives for PPC, but it was very hard to swallow nonetheless.

My questions to the WF members are: Should I try to get my account reinstated? If I can't, what is the best alternative for PPC? Have I significantly hurt my chances of making it in IM by getting my Adwords account banned?

Thanks for all your help! I can't tell you how much I learn everyday from reading on the WF.

I'm surprised to see you had the balls (and the cash) to run "6 pack abs." Word of advice... heed the warnings/suspension, and go to another top tier network (or even some second tier). The traffic will not nearly be as much, but the competition might not [will not] be as fierce.

You do realize the market you're in is a multi-billion dollar industry? If you can roll with the punches, go for it -- it'll be a learning experience.

Regardless, try to get your account back, as it'll be useful in a less competitive niche. And before you start another campaign, read up a little about the network (example Adwords: legit content, blog based, soft sell). Good luck!

It is common knowledge that diet, weight loss, fitness related
stuff on adwords is a tough sell. A clickbank product for such
      a thing is almost a 100% no-no.

I don't know why people take these things so personally. You
were promoting a product that gave people false hopes and claims.

That's the truth. You can peddle the stuff elsewhere if you wish.

Google wants no part of it. Or at least, for people like you and me.

I feel your pain, it has happened to me also. I bought a PLR product on weight loss and decided to send traffic through adwords. There was an invitation from Google to set the ad up for people for free, so I called and discussed my site with them. They told me I needed a doctor's certificate to prove the claims in the product, without that they won't do the ads for me but I could do them myself. I had received some $100 coupons from Google so I decided to run some ads. With $100 all gone and no sale, I canceled the ad, however two days later I received an email that I have been permanently suspended from adwords for "egregious violation." I tried to argue my case to no avail. I had read this ebook and all it was teaching was sensible eating, stretching exercises and walking. With my background in the health sciences I knew it was a good program and it could work if one was serious enough to lose weight. I would not have touched it if I thought there was anything harmful involved. Just by glancing through the sales page, they made this decision.
So you are not alone and hopefully our experiences can help others to beware.
