Extremely simple blog now rated #1 on Google for two words

Hey guys, I've been away from WF for awhile. Started working again after mat leave.
I decided to write a blog about a skin care product I'm using. I used Wordpress.
I didn't use any plug-ins or changed anything. In fact, I just blogged during my breaks at work using my iphone.
This week, I've discovered my non-profit blog rated #1 for a two word search on Google. All it contains is thorough honest to goodness info - no videos, audios, no fancy backgrounds or images, no backlinks, no plug-ins. I spent absolutely zero money on it. I just basically typed what I knew on Wordpress.
I am an IM newbie and just started doing this to get my feet wet and educate myself. No profit-making blogs yet but I am pleased to see I actually have a chance at making a blog #1.
I haven't checked my stats yet. I just logged in to my friend's computer and typed in two words related to my blog into Google. It's not very obscure words either.
So what's my point? I was so caught up before on what I can do to accelerate profits for myself that I didn't focus on what I can offer to the public. I have another blog that I have spent money on but is not anywhere near the first ten pages of Google that I've worked so hard for. And now I have this tiny blog that I just ranted on for less than 1 hour of work rated #1.
People will ignore all the hype and flashing lights if they can't find anything helpful on your site. Just something I discovered that I wanted to share with you.
PS: I know many of you will be asking me for the name of my successful blog.
I won't reveal that yet. I'll wait a few more weeks and see how long it will stay #1 and then I'll reveal it.

I don't think there's any way for me to make a profit out of my successful blog. The product is from a huge skin care company. It's not really a niche to me. More like a learning tool.

That's my plan. I was getting discouraged but now I'm happy to know that I actually can make a site ranked #1. I'm going to duplicate my efforts and build one that can generate profit.

The last thing you should do is reveal your blog unless you want mountains of competition and people that try to blacklist your site. WF is great. But don't forget about the people that come here just to steal ideas.

Good start. Now you'll need to build backlinks and continue to add unique content if you want to maintain your position.

Good point. Maybe I won't reveal it then. I was just hoping to help a few struggling newbies like myself.

Just goes to show what I've been saying for some time now... Google is positioning at top lots of non-linked/no footprint sites/blogs... only THEN people should BL them...

This doesn't happen is ALL markets, in all keywords... but it's happening more and more.

    Congratulations.

Did you go about doing some keyword research before writing your content?

That's the funny thing, I didn't do any research. I wasn't looking to be rated #1 or anything. I wasn't trying to do anything, just wanted to share some knowledge.
It's kinda ironic - my other blog that I've researched and spent money on isn't getting anywhere. Yet this one is ranked number one for two keywords. Go figure. Google's plastered ads all over it now.

Checked my Wordpress stats yesterday. Had 17 views in one day yesterday. Doesn't sound like much but it's a lot for me. And Google.ph referred my blog. I'm not exactly sure what this means.
Still ranking #1 on Google for two keywords. Visible in 1-2 pages for other keywords. So far, so good. I've backlinked my blog finally. Hope it doesn't turn my visitors off.

Checked my blog again. Still ranking #1 for two keywords. I've built another blog on an entirely different subject. Ranks #2 on google for long tail keywords. Still have to monetize this blog. Hoping to earn some money soon.
