Hi guys. I understand that adsense sites, to convert well, need to be pretty minimal.

What do you think about adding a small, relevant pic, to each post... is this ok?

Sure, just don't use an image that you can see a mile away.

If you can get away with a black/white image on a white page background it shouldn't draw the traffics eyes away from looking at yout Adsense Ads.

It's the bright colored images that will kill your Adsense CTR.

Example, If you have Adsense on the left side of the page & a bright image on the right side, the bright image will draw the attention away from the Adsense on the left.

Why not? sure you can put image.

Usualy i have this routine of putting big square ad (which is set to text only ads) and about same size picture side by side. My ad is on left and picture is on right. when you get to some page or post this is all you can see ad+picture and you have to scrole down to see more content. This way add looks like start of content

That's a good idea, I should try that. I like to put an image in the post with my keyword as the alt text just for on page seo purposes but I agree that it can affect ad CTR. I'll usually put it further down the page below the fold so it's not interfering with the ads.

Is it against adsense TOS to have images near the ads? I thought I heard something alone those lines?

it's againts the TOS only if your pic is misleading or tricking people to click on the adsense links.
