So I have a website that has links to both http://www.mydomainname.com and http://mydomainname.com the links from http://www.mydomainname.com have been around longer then http://mydomainname.com . I have a wordpress website and read that I should use apache and do a mod rewrite ( which I have never done before). Will I keep my link juice with this option?

Look at your incoming links and whatever one has the highest quality links set that as the default in your WP admin. It is in your setting> general tab.

If you have cpanel you can set your redirects there without any problems or really any knowledge. If not do a search and you can find directions on how to set the 301's up pretty easily in your htaccess file.

wordpress will automatically deal with this for you, you just tell it whether you want the www or not under site settings.
