Hi there,
If I add many articles for each page of the site in one go: is the traffic likely to increase at approximately the same time or would it increase each three months when the site is revised by Google?

    I think Google revises the site quite often if the truth be known. Just putting up a new article now and then is not going to propel you up the serps. You need to have many articles per day to do that as though you are running a Google News Site, those sites are always up the serps!
    Other than that you need constant backlinking campaigns going, try Fiverr,com and get people to do blog comments for you on a regular basis, it only costs $5 a pop!

    Google indexes new content pretty quickly, i've seen stuff show up in under 3 days.
