An S.E.O Tip...(Your Competition Don't Want You To Know This!)

Here's a TIP I've found that is... well... super sneaky and cool.

If your stuck trying to "out-rank" a certain competitor for keyword(s) in Google (or any other search engines for that matter) here's what I recommend you to, because I've been using it to devistating effect.

... and it's REALLY simple.

Enjoy.

1. Go to Google; search "SEO SPYGLASS"

2. Download it! It requires an opt-in but it's well, well worth it. Oh, and it's FREE.

3. Load it up, you then have 1 of 2 options, either ask SEO SPLYGLASS to search for sites ranking for "your keyword" or by specific site.

You will want to do both, (I'll explain why later) but for now start with a specific site, e.g. catjuggling.com

4. Go grab a sandwich, coffee, do press-ups [insert activity here] - it's takes a few minutes for the software to collect data ala M.S.

5. Once that's complete you'll get the option "include all backlink factors in reporting?" Select: YES.

6. Repeat step 4 for larger "authority" sites, for mini/niche/sniper sites hang by the PC.

7. Explore to your hearts content the backlinking strategy, quality and other such information of your competitors.

8. STEAL YOUR COMPETITORS BACKLINKS -- by visiting the same sites/ using the same approach they are using. Right under their nose without them even knowing it!

... NOW TAKE ACTION.

PM for a "demo video" I made of this, should you want it. But, you really can get started with these instructions alone. Seriously.

P.S. I'm not affiliated with SEO SPYGLASS in any way. Thanks.

I have SEOspyglass, but it takes to long to get simple data. So I use www.backlinkwatch [dot] com, which is faster and doesn't require you to download anything.

I find backlinkwatch incredibly unreliable and inconsistent and always down, have you not found that yourself with this service?

Like you, I have found BacklinkWatch to be down (I have used my allotment even if I haven't used it in days or weeks), so seldom use it any more. Very unreliable.

No, it's never been down for me. It's not as "indepth" as SEO spyglass, but it gives you the essential data to get the job done.

Okay, I just did a check of one of my competitors in both programs. SEO spyglass came back with 67 backlinks, while Backlink Watch only came back with 65.

However, the two extra backlinks in SEO are "Not Applicable" (no longer active). So, based on this one test, Backlink Watch was more reliable.

Backlink Watch took about 45 seconds, compared to SEO spyglass took about 7-10 minutes from startup to finish.

Yeah SEO SPYGLASS does take longer, but it brings in a lot more data (as you know), I'll give backlink watch another shot.

Still I prefer Yahoo Site Explorer and I only use backlinkwatch if I want to double-check the results. Still this is an interesting tool, I will probably check on this.

Thanks. I will give it a download. I hope I'm not dissapointed. It'd really help me out being able to have a software to check rankings for keywords, and more stats.

Alexa the site and the links showing are ones that alexa users have used to reach that site. These are links that bring traffic. :-)

I was lazy and couldn't quite figure out Spyglass. It seems to only analyse the TOP competitor (i.e. No. 1 position), is that right? And can that be changed? Only sometimes the TOP competitor is, like, the BBC or something and copying their backlinks, or even trying to beat them out isn't realistic and you'd rather take on the spammer at no. 2 or whatever.

I like seospyglass, like others have said it's slow (I know you can change settings).

Most of the time I'll use "Yahoo Explorer + SeoQuake" to sort highest PR, works good & fast, gives you a good idea what's going on with your competition.
