Is this competition hard or easy?

Hey all
i was doing some keyword research this morning and i was wondering if this niche is very difficult or very easy. here is a screenshot from nichewatch.com. The reason why i was wondering is because all the sites there(at least most of them) have a huge amount of backlinks to there website but not to the specific domain that is ranked in the top ten(refering to the BLD). Just wondering what your opinions are? by the way the term is getting 40k searches a month.

    uhhh - very difficult. Your up against very trusted sites such as nextag and amazon. I would find a different niche.

      only reason i thought it would be easy is that if you look at the BLP(backlinks to webpage) there is basicly nothing? still going to be very difficult?

    Not sure which niche you are targetting but if it is on the camera electronics niche it is pretty competitive but that doesn't really matter
    There still might be a load of long tailed keywords to go after. With a keyword rich domain or even an aged domain and good Seo you can outrank many of these sights.
    So if you are passionate about this niche go deeper and look for sub-niches and or long tailed keywords. When you find them check out the competition at that level and then make your call.

    Take a look at their on-page SEO, is it SEO'd for that certain term? If not... go for it. Don't be scared away by big authority sites. They could be ranking for the term because there's no competition.

    and forgot to mention, Fawkes63 your right it is the camera niche... but i tried to go for a micro niche and found this one... wasn't sure if alot of sites like amazon, nextag etc. was a positive thing or not.

    I'd suggest you compare the results with inurl: and intitle: with the exact KW

    To be honest, it seems easy as there is no site that is specifically for the keyword.

      I agree - check inurl: and allintitle:

      With such low page backlinks you could be on to something. But more research is required.

      Is it 40k per month searches in Broad, Phrase, or Exact?

        Broad: 40,000
        Exact: 480
        Phase: 18,000

        is this good or bad news? the exact is very low...

          unless what you're selling earns you 500$ a sale, I'd say pick a new niche.

            so your logic is that if the exact is low then the search volume is low? (sorry im new to seo) also if someone could explain the difference of exact, broad and phrase then that would be fantastic

              I find it's easier to explain Exact first, then the others. Exact match = exactly all the words and in the exact sequence are found somewhere in a webpage. Example: "I love cats" has to have exactly those words specifically that order on the page. So if you had "I love dogs and cats" would not count, but "I love cats and dogs" would count. Make sense?

              Phrase match = all the words in the order they are written are found somewhere in the webpage. So "I love dogs and cats" would fit the phrase match for "I love cats", but not exact match.

              Broad match = all the words in a phrase are found somewhere in the webpage, in any order, in any sequence. The 'I Love Cats' example could have the words 'Cats', 'Love', and 'I' anywhere in the page. So if you had "Cats are so special and I love them" in a webpage, it would fit the broad match for "I love cats", but that would not fit either phrase or broad.

              So as you can see, although broad match has it's uses, it isn't that helpful with keyword research when you are gauging traffic on a specific phrase. Personally I like phrase match and exact match when researching traffic estimates. Broad is helpful in the sense that it can give you a more general idea of what people are searching for, and often gives you other ideas too.

    It depends on what keywords you use exact keywords are your goal for a specific market... Do keyword search... google has one that's free just search for it... Think backwards of their websites as if you were to tear their business down and look at it's construct. That's like saying can I rank number 1 in google for auto insurance... It depends on how much work I put into it.. Popularity is google's way of converting. Although if you want to tap into that Niche you are going to want to offer what they offer unless your website offers... Similar services or a referral service. Which will be the only reason you wouldn't rank number 1. Don't go for that niche. The pie is big extremely big but when your mouth only opens so wide then it doesn't matter, you'd be ant in a land of Dinosaurs. Good luck and much success.
