Will buying traffic decrease my site's rankings?

OK, so if i buy traffic, like 10,000+ to my site, will it decrease my site's rankings? If not, how does it help in my site's rankings?

    traffic will pull down your site ranking if those traffic is not quality traffic that bring high bounce rate. If not , more traffic usually help you in site ranking which Google will feel that your site content is useful and quality because it attract lot of traffic to your site.

      Traffic in itself does neither decrease nor increase your ranking.

      First of all, to have any influence on ranking, Google must be aware of the traffic and / or it's sources.

      - as long as you're not using Google Analytics, it's highly unlikely that Google would know about your bounce rate.
      - as long as you're not using Adwords to drive those 10000 visitors, again, Google will not know much about your traffic.
      - What might influence your ranking is if the traffic is gained using BlueFart SEO, or backlinks from site's that Google considers bad.

      So the question is what techniques you are using to get the traffic. Those techniques might hurt ranking in some cases.
