Possible Google Penalty?

Hi Guys,

I purchased the domain for the website I've been SEOing less than a month ago - which is a keyword rich domain name.

I've been creating backlinks and so forth for a keyword included in the domain name and was starting to rank for it. I had just got onto the 2nd page for the keyword about a week and a half ago. But about 2 days after I did my website totally disappeared from the keyword.

It's been about a week or so, and I'm still no where to be found for the keyword.

Not sure if I'm just google dancing or I got penalized?

Thanks for any input.

Both are possibilities. A lot of it would depend on some factors like:

    1) The rate at which you built your backlinks.
    2) Types of backlinks and variety of sources (or lack thereof)
    3) Anchor text variation
    4) The niche you're in

And more...but for a start, I'd do a site:domain search just to be sure you haven't been manually deindexed and then I'd just type your domain name into the search box (with and without the extension).

All that aside, the best thing you can do is continue producing valuable content, steadily adding new pages to the site, and continuing your link building at a reasonable and realistic pace.

This type of thing happens all the time, probably more often than not. Many sites take months to really kick in, so hang in there.

Google dance imo, happened to most of my new sites, they will come back eventually as long as it's still indexed. Some took few weeks or months to come back.

As Seekness mentioned, do a site:url.com search on Google. If its there you don't have much to worry about just yet.

Chances are its a Google dance, which many of us have experienced in our day and age. Keep building quality links, content, and your site should be back in a few weeks (if not sooner)

this always happens - don't get discouraged, just carry on with your link building and adding content. You are just going through the google system, there is no penalty it's just part of the hustle to the front page. Your site will settle after about 3-6 months

Go to searchenginegenie.com You can check rank within the top 300 listings, and the site also has a sandbox checker. Assuming your site has not been deindexed, this will tell you for sure if you are dancing and how much.

This always happens to new sites. I had a site disappear for two months and it came back at a higher position. Just continuing updating the site and getting backlinks and it should return.
