tempted to get a long-tail keyword domain name. It's 33 characters though and I'm not sure if this would be too many for some reason. I'm not looking to build a brand with it, just rank well in SERP's.

Are there any issues with such a long domain name, that I should know before i buy?

thanks

If you are planning to drive traffic to other website or make some cash through affiliate is ok. At the end of the day, if you have a killer content , people won't care about your website name because is such a good content there....Personally, I would look for another keyword , shorter, within same niche and same amount of exact searches...Cheers!

Once you rank well in the Search Engine(s) it doesn't really matter!

If however you use the links for promotion, maybe you should get a cheap and ultra-short domain name and forward it to the long-tail domain.

I personally have a domain the is an EMD for a verry long tail keyword that gets a great deal of traffic. I ranked the site on the strength of the EMD alone with almost no links so I would say to go for it.
