Detecting the dup content penalty

Greetings
Recently (before bourbon update) my ranking on my primary keywords dropped drastically. Since I started publishing my articles on all the sites I was able to I was wondering wether it is possible that google is penalizing me for duplicate content. What should one do in order to get this penalization? Is there anyway I can be sure on this issue?
Thanks in advance

    Hi skyvia,

There is no duplicate content penalty!

Let's put this to bed once and for all, folks: There's no such thing as a "duplicate content penalty." At least, not in the way most people mean when they say that.

A lot has changed since then. Google has confirmed if your site has a significant amount of duplicate or similar content, it can lower the whole site's rankings.

        Hi WealthWithin,

Google doesn't rank "sites", they rank individual web documents.

If you take a closer look at what Google has said recently you will see that they refer to "lower quality" content.

Having a "significant amount of duplicate or similar content" has always been a negative ranking factor when we are talking about content that is duplicated on the same website. This is not a new phenomenon, nor the topic of this thread.

Hi it may be because of the recent Google Update called Panda. Check whether your site has duplicate or low quality content. If it has then replace it with good quality original content.

Google has more advance tools to detect duplicate content. Create an article that is unique and has an informative story. Try to use other tools for you to determine if the story is duplicated or not.
