Hey guys,

I had an email from someone today asking if I would like to sell my website and it got me thinking what it would be worth.

The site is Best iphone 4 Cases

Its currently ranking

best iphone 5 case 2nd
best iphone 5 cases 2nd
camo iphone 5 cases 1st
cheap iphone 5 cases 2nd
iphone 5 case 6th
iphone 5 cases 4th
iphone 5 skin 6th
iphone 5 skins 2nd
iphone5 cases 5th
leather iphone 5 case 1st
popular iphone 5 case 3rd
popular iphone 5 cases 3rd

I estimate a total of 80,000 visitors a month when the iphone launches - this is based of the equivalent iphone 4 searches.

Currently the site has minimal sales of iphone 4 cases as the SEO effort was not focused on this.

What do you think it is worth currently?

Right now unless it's making anything it's worth $0.00! If your predictions are right it will be worth a pretty penny. But how can you predict anything? Right now theres 0 competition.

          Bingo!

But people don't buy sites, they buy domains. I could buy it and totally redo the site. It's not exactly like buying a business. If you think you can make more money keeping it, do so. If you want the fast profit, sell it.

How much money are you making? Do you ever watch those shows where people pitch their business idea to investors? Same thing. If you just tell them there's potential, they'll laugh in your face. If on the other hand you say you've made $x, they just might listen and consider it. So build the site, come back when you make money, tell me how much and I'll make an offer.

Anyone got any new views on this now that the next iphone being released was confirmed by Verizon as being called the iphone 5? Also I have increased my rankings significantly and rank for more keywords which moves my traffic predictions up from 80,000 to 110,000 a month?

You could look at some similar site on Filppa.com - that may give an indication of the value. However, as InTheMaking said I would think that you need to be making some money or at least have lots of users visiting the site already for it to be worth much money.

    Your site looks good though.

      Hi there,

I don't mind admitting I sold a website to someone who asked after it for a whole lot less than I should have.

The mistake I made was that I gave the person an amount which at the time I thought was fair.

Don't make that mistake, let the buyer give you the price he is prepared to pay for it. Always let the buyer give the first price.

You just don't know how much it is worth to them.

      Best wishes,

      Ruth

Considering you're using a trademark in your domain, you should be careful with it. Apple could probably come and shut you down on a whim.

I doubt it but you never know. Anyone here ever had problems of this sort?

Maybe it's Apple wanting to buy the domain.

Until you have a trail of earnings, I wouldn't say its worth very much at all.

#1 - You have a trademark infringement issue. That is a huge risk for a buyer

#2 - You are estimating traffic for a product that has yet to be publicly named/released

#3 - There are no earnings to speak of (unless I misread)

Go onto flippa and look for similar sites. That is probably your best bet to determine its value. IMHO, you'd be FAR better off waiting until the new phone is released and then doing everything you can to build the traffic and earnings for three months, then put it on Flippa.
