Question about AdWords matching

i read an adwords course in which the following was said:

To put the different matching options in separate adgroups, with negatives, like:

1)
exact adgroup

[blue widgets]

2)
phrase adgroup

"blue widgets"
-[blue widgets]

3)
broad adgroup

blue widgets
-[blue widgets]
-"blue widgets"

when i do an adwords test on my phrase adgroup, hovering over it with the mouse, adwords says: A negative keyword is preventing your keyword from showing.

What do i do wrong?

    Hi GeorgR,

    Sounds like you did nothing wrong. The AdWords hover hint is not sophisticated enough to recognize advanced matching strategies so it doesn't have the ability to say: "A negative keyword is preventing your keyword from showing as an exact match, but will show as a phrase match."

    The way you have set it up will work just fine. This should be apparent when you start seeing impressions and clicks.

    The negative exact match in group 3 is not necessary, it's made redundant by the negative phrase match. Leave that off and it will make room in your account for more keywords.

    only using exact and maybe phrase, splitting up in separate grps according to matchtype and some more tweaking:

    SERIOUSLY cut down my CPC, and great CTR rates.

    I am getting clicks as low as $0.15 for some awesome KWs in TOP position before there was no go under $0.40.

    I think i will MOSTLY scrap broad and only focus on exact and phrase, for now.
