Ok, so I'm trying to set up a second blog. And before I go stumbling into something that is over-saturated (Like my current blog in signature), I wanted to make sure I chose one that I could get to the top PR really quickly.

I'm not going to say the keyword..
But here are some facts...

(Exact)
Global Monthly Searches: 6600
Local Monthly Searches: 220
Estimated avg CPC: $1.46

Then when I typed it in google in the search bar. The first website that popped up, has the following:
12 Pages Backlinked According to Google
128 Pages Backlinked According to Bing
175 Pages Backlinked According to Yahoo

Also had:
2250 Pages indexed in Google
285 Pages indexed in Bing
10764 Pages indexed in Yahoo

So is it safe for me to enter and would it be easy to get to the top?

That was broad. Sorry. The exact ones are:

    Global Monthly: 6600
    Local: 260

    Updated first post.

      I thought so.

To be honest this really depends on so many different things. Without having any idea what the niche is I couldn't really advise you to go for it or not.

What about your competition for positions 2-5?

I'll post the backlink count for each one next to the number for google.

        2: 114
        3: 11
        4: 5
        5: 21

And Robert how do I find the sites competing? When I type in the keyword phrase it just says, "3,200,000 results found"

What was the number of total sites competing? If it's over 50,000,, forget it. Maybe 75,000

Actually I don't even care about how many competing sites I have so long as I can out muscle the top 10, or just 5 even.

I'll post the backlink count for each one next to the number for google.

      2: 114
      3: 11
      4: 5

As Roberts said put the keyword in quotes and look at how many results are found. To be honest though it really means nothing. If you get 20,000,000 reults but they're all useless, you can win or you may have 20 competing pages and no chance of ranking. Forget how many are there to compete with you and instead what the people on the first page are doing and if they can be beaten.

Sorry Robert, I just learned a while back the numbers don't make any difference.

Regarding those links, again, it depends where they're from. I look on Market Samurai so I can analyze the backlinks, where they're from, what the anchor text is, whats the PR of the page the link is on, the relevance of the site etc etc.

Alright, well the keyword I wanted to use had 7 million results when I put in quotes around it.

When I added another word to it, it narrowed it down to 98,000 results. The first website is a blogspot domain, and has zero backlinks. So I think I'm going to go with that. What do you guys think?
