If I run my SEO campaign from my laptop then will it be a problem? I mean now I am using my own Laptop for doing all on-page and off-page works also I regularly check my website's status using some firefox addonns like SEOQuake, SEO4Firefox, Rank Checker etc.

I use a mobile internet connection so the IP address is dynamic.

My question is building all backlinks from one pc will it be a probelm? Or I have to use Proxy?

Thanks for replies...........

  • I don't think it should be an issue. Google will note the IP address of where your backlink is coming from, and if they were all on the same subnet, then it would send a red flag to them (known as a link farm), but since I assume you are mixing this up and posting on a variety of sites, you should be fine.
The IP address of the laptop you use shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Yes U are right I am mixing it up and posting on a variety of sites. Like I am using social networking and bookmarking sites, articles, blogs, forums etc.

Also my IP address is dynamic. And I can change my MAC address using TMAC software easily.

So I think running a all SEO campaigns from one Laptop will not be a problem. Right?

Two issues that people are addressing.

First, Google has no way of knowing the IP that you created the links from, they only care about the IP of the sites where the actual links reside. So from that stand point no problem.

Second, the sites where you are building the links may care if you start building too many from one IP address. Your IP could get labeled as a spammer and that will result in less successful backlinking campaigns or deleted links. How likely that is with a dynamic IP I am not sure, I suppose it depends on how many they rotate you through.

Best bet is to keep on what you are doing but if you start getting blocked from the sites or you links are getting deleted then invest in some private IP's for your link building efforts.

What's more of a problem is getting all your do-follow blog links past @#$% akismet using the same computer!

Doesn't matter whether you write "Hi, nice site" or an essay including multiple philosophies and expanded world views (which I often do!), Akismet will can those things just the same if it doesn't like what you are doing with your IP, and Name / email / URL!

I tend to copy the comment to a clipboard and if it gets canned, go back and have another go with a different Name / email / URL combo, that often does it!

Google has no way of knowing the IP that a blog comment was posted from, does it?

I'm still waiting to meet another person who does the 'Starbucks tour' so that they can build links from different IPs...

      • It doesn't matter about the IP address of your laptop. Google would just be worried about the IP address of the website where your backlink is coming from. As long as these are different you will be fine. You don't need to do anything to your laptop's IP address.

It doesn't matter at all really. Totally ok to build links just using a single laptop.

Are you tired of building site only to have very few visitors, if any at all? Traffic generation and search engine optimization (SEO) are the single most difficult aspect of internet marketing for the newly inducted. The Guru's don't like to give out their REAL secrets and I can understand why, but the truth is, there are really basic methods of traffic generation and SEO that can work for anyone. Best of all? They are even easy for internet marketing newbies to understand!
The first main method of traffic generation is article marketing. Sites like the one you are reading right now will allow you to post articles and leave your link in the author section at the bottom of your article. They do this because they are getting tons of valuable content for free and helping build authority for their site, while helping you with exposure and link building. Article marketing is one of the main methods you should be using when starting out in online marketing. It's cheap (free!) and very easy to understand. As long as you can write coherent content that someone will want to read, you can get started immediately.
The next method of traffic generation is social media. This area gets varying explanations but I consider twitter, Facebook, social bookmarking, and any social community type site as social media marketing. This method is also rather simple and also FREE! All you need to do is create accounts on the various bookmarking sites and community sites and add your links to all of your accounts. Post small articles on Twitter and Facebook including your link and you will be well on your way to getting increased traffic to your site.
Another method that many people often overlook is Yahoo Answers. Yahoo answers will not necessarily help you build up your Google Pagerank, and it won't count as valid backlinks, but many people don't realize just how many clickthroughs you can get from yahoo answers. One simple link at the bottom of a good answer, especially one that is chosen as the best answer, can get you continuing long term traffic from people who like your answer and are willing to find out more of what you have to say. Yahoo answers is a site that every marketer should be using, but surprisingly few really do.
Forum and Blog commenting can also be very useful. Simply find some of the most popular blogs and forums for whatever your topic is and make an account, being sure to use your link to your site as part of your signature. This method can help with backlinking and pagerank if the site isn't using "nofollow" tags, and if the blog or forum is popular enough, it can also drive significant traffic to your site. This is probably the most time consuming method of traffic generation, but also one of the most useful and underated. If you hire someone to do SEO for you, this is one of the most commonly used methods.
The last method and one that can be somewhat difficult for true marketing newbies is YouTube. YouTube will allow you to post a link in the info box to the right of your video. This can bring in some serious traffic through clickthroughs. A lot of people will click the link next to a video if the content is useful and informative. The problem is that most people believe making videos is time consuming and difficult. Boy are they wrong! Using a laptop with a webcam and YouTube built in recorder, you can make a blog style recording in 3 to 5 minutes that can get you 100s if not 1000s of visitors to your site. Don't overlook YouTube.
Getting traffic to your site can seem like a daunting task, but it isn't as hard as you think. Just remember that the hard work you put in now, building backlinks and clickthroughs, will help you make a nice residual income down the road. Once the links are out there, they will stay there forever, consistently helping you to make more sales. Don't get discouraged if it takes time. Just keep building links and I promise you will start making sales!
