Local keyword search help!

Hi again. I am targeting only one city, Halifax, Nova Scotia. I am doing water systems and drinking water for keywords. When I put my keywords in the meta description, should i put "drinking water halifax" or would "drinking water" do? and "water systems halifax" or "water systems". If I go with just the drinking water and water systems keywords, am I then competing against ALL of the people using those? When someone does a search for the keywords "drining water" does Google geotarget their search results ?

And for keyword placement in my main content, would I put the city after the keyword such as "drinking water halifax", or "water systems halifax", or would "drinking water" and "water systems" work just as well?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Chris

Throw the city in there, and also look into geotargeting/geocoding. Also obviously include the city in the HTML title tag.

Thanks John for the reply! I will do that! I have another question. When I am writing the main content...lets say my keyword is "drinking water halifax", is it ok for me to put "drinking water in halifax" or do i need to keep it "drinking water halifax"?
It makes it a bit harder to read and make sense if I have to use "drinking water halifax"..it doesnt go together in a sentence very well.

      Any help is appreciated!
      Cheers!
      Chris

It'd be best to use the exact phrase, but like you say it may not make much sense if people are actually reading your content. One thing I do to get around this is to use sentences like "Check out all the different types of drinking water Halifax has to offer."
