Utilizing Time

Hey everyone, I hope you all are doing well. I know that it takes some time to get your site "ranked" on Google. So in the meantime, I was wondering what do you guys do aside from trying to get your site ranked(backlinking, etc.)?
Do you just try to get traffic, add more content to your site, work on different sites? More research?
I'm trying to find ways to utilize my time as I plan to spend a lot of hours (8 hours or more a day) with Internet Marketing. Thanks all!
