So I wanted to promote clickbanks product "The Diet Solution Program"

I nailed down a domain http://www.thedietsolutionprogramrev.com/

Copied the site over like so many people do....Also leaned from Bring the fresh and many others.

I wrote a nice little ad in adwords and directed the landing page as I just created.
http://www.thedietsolutionprogramrev.com/

They Suspended My Adwords Account Because of the landing page was against there policies.

Ive been with adwords for 6-8 years. spend alot of money with them.

What going on?? Im new to IM.......Did I do something wrong??

--------
So this is where I got the whole Idea...
After watching tons of webinars and buying a bunch of WSO.....I thought Id give it a try....got a clickbank accound decided on the diet solution program....
looked at what somone else was doing with the product on adwords.

I did the same thing they did....
look at their site here.
http://www.dsplan-2011.co.cc/

I just dont understand why they can do it and I get slapped for the exact same thing here.

    Hi,

I'd strongly recommend that you purchase a good eBook on using Adwords for affiliate offers. ( I don't have one to sell you )

You made a lot of mistakes that could be fixed by just reading the T&C and help files in Adwords.

    These three pages should help,

What is Google's affiliate auction policy? - AdWords Help

What should I know as an affiliate advertiser? - AdWords Help

Why won't you show multiple ads leading to identical or similar landing pages? - AdWords Help

I would imagine, eventually, all people trying to promote that
program with adwords will be suspended.

Diet, weight loss, are just ripe for scams and exaggerated claims,
      and are highly scrutinized.

I'll bet that dsplan-2011.co.cc is toast by now.

Why give them a link here?

I hear its not impossible to get your adwords reinstated.....

I guess if you tell them u understand Googles tos and you know exactly what you did wrong they will give you a second chance.

It seems now adword more concerns about health care products. When I try to promote a cream for acne they suspend my ad(luckily not the account)and said that you should have a US pharmacy licence to promote something like that.
*sometimes your 65% off made them to suspend your account. It may be appealing to someone looking for cheap deal but for another its more like a scam.Price converts better than %
So I think you should go through their policies once again.

I had my Adwords account suspended a couple of years ago, but through persistence managed to get it reinstated. The full story is on the site in my sig.

My account was permanently suspended. They said I violated their Hacking Policy (?) I read the TOS and relevant docs and found no such reference. Then they said the landing page wasn't up to their standards. I've seen a LOT more crappier pages. I went back and forth with them, finally wound up telling them to go to hell

Between Paypal shutting down accounts of a lot of IMers with various products, and AdWords going after affiliates, the Big Web seems to hate us.

But consider it from their perspective. YOU/WE are not Google's customers. Yes, we pay them. But Google's customers are the users of the site who trust Google enough to click on their ads. If users have a bad experience then Big G blames US. Same with PP. So if they get irritated enough, they shut you down so their users don't complain about your "deceptive" advertising and blame Google by voting with their feet (er, mouse).

Of course, they get to decide what that really is. Whatever they really want, actually.

Both Paypal and Google have increasingly shot at the people who pay them - Adwords Advertisers and Paypal Sellers who pay them fees. They don't care about us, and they've both written their TOS so darn vague that they can basically do whatever they want to you.

Nothing bad has happened to me personally, but I've sure been hearing a lot about it in the WF and also in industry news and newsletters.

For curiosity last week I went and re-read the TOS for both companies. Long enough to put you to sleep even if you want to read it. They're really spiffing up their language so they can basically suspend or terminate just about anyone they want with no reasonable (if any) way to appeal. Unfortunately, they provide the service so it's their right to dictate terms to people who choose to purchase their services.

Unfortunately, we all need them more than they need us. I saw a couple of WSOs about the Paypal issue in the last few weeks. If you're particularly concerned, you might check them out for help on playing nice with PP. Or, Google it (haha) or search the forums. There's a bunch of sites around that talk about both companies and their practices. Best to be informed of your options if PP or Big G come after you.

And do what I do. Diversify. I have a merchant account for credit card processing in addition to Paypal, so if PP jerks me around, I can still shift to the other. And I never keep much money in PP just in case. And for Google, well, there's Bing. Bing's share of search has been increasing, and for some campaigns, I've found Bing searchers more responsive. So I run on both ad networks, just in case.

Hope that helps if anyone is thinking of ways to protect themselves here.

And want to hear something stupid? I read a news article this week (forget where) that was talking about the Google investigation into their monopoly practices. According to the expert they talked to, being a monopoly is not illegal. What is illegal is using that monopoly to influence the industry and customers in your favor. And proving that can be hard. Remember how the Microsoft one turned out?

My Google AdWords campaign was just suspended, too, on 7/11/11. (They must be on a roll here.) I do not have a diet-related site. And I'm not an affiliate. I'm the site!

The first thing that bothered me was that the email they sent notifying me of the suspension was generic - it didn't say what the real problem was.

I called Google (they actually help you now, by phone - 866-246-6453). The Tech looked up my account, but, again, there were no notes on their system stating why my account was suspended, just some generic thing about the landing page not complying with their rules.

The Tech said he had to research it. In the meantime, I had him go to Google, type in a phrase, see the GA ad that appeared (which is somewhat of a similar product to mine), and had him note that ad's web address/landing page for comparison. (Their landing page is very similar to mine, their video is similar, their wording is similar, their offer is similar.)

He wrote back today stating that "the specialist in regard to the site suspension said the site lacks transparency." Meanwhile he said nothing about the similar site that has been advertising on GA for many months, and they also said nothing about my second website that is on the same GA account (different campaign) which is modeled in the same manner as the site's campaign they suspended.

Meanwhile, I had planned to contact them on 7/11 earlier in the day, before reading their suspension email, to ask why the Conversion code I added to my site (I use OptimizePress and put the code where James told me it belongs) just a week earlier was showing that of the clicks, there were 25 conversions. (Meaning -- of the clicks on the ad, 25 people filled out the form and clicked the button.) I went through the sign-ups (this is a new site, so it was easy) and, eliminating the sign-ups from other sources, I was left with 5 people at the most who might have clicked a GA ad and signed up.

After discussing the suspension with the Tech, I discussed this Conversion code. He answered that in his email, too, but not sufficiently enough for me. There is no way 25 people signed up after clicking a GA ad.

But, of course, I've paid Google $$ for clicks on the ads since they've gone live!

I'm going to try a different method for getting traffic. The target market for this particular site is women who want to learn how to make bows (simple to complex) for gifts and home decor, how to make fancy gift packaging, using ribbons in home decor, etc. So I'm going to go where women who are creative, DIY types go, young moms, etc. Hopefully I will find a better solution than Google Adwords.

In fact, I'm going to go into my GA account and make a few clicks to ensure they can't turn it back on without my knowledge.

Thanks to all of you for posting about your negative experiences with Google AdWords. We need to share our stories. (And it's not just diet-related ads they're targeting, and it's not just affiliate ads they're targeting!)
