Not sure if you guys have noticed yet but, Google have changed the colours within the search engine and have also changed the Google ad placement format.

When advertising with Google Adwords in the past, the URL was always placed underneath the text, however since this update the URL is now displayed above the text.

Not sure what effects this will have but I will be comparing the CTR's from before and after this update this week.

I have noticed that it highlights the first advertisement far more...but that's my opinion.

What do you guys think?

They are always making changes, many you may not have noticed. I count that one as well as four others I've noticed or heard about in the last four months alone. I'm sure there's probably more than that. It's all of course to try and improve click rates as more clicks = more revenues.

I was noticing this change also.

Knowing Google, there is possibly only two reasons why they are doing this...

They are doing this as test to see if there is enough evidence that this new layout will generate better click thru rates.

      Or...

They already have statistically significant data that proves these ads will get better click thrus.

Either way, they want to get better click thrus because that is what drives their revenue from selling advertising which is the bulk of their overall revenue.

Many people don't understand why Google is so stringent with their rules about quality scores, etc.

They have a crap load of data to support everything they do so it makes sense for them to make business decisions based on proven data that makes them money and not based on theories.

Like the old saying goes: "Numbers don't lie, but people do."

Even though I hate the way Google operates at times, I respect them on how they make business decisions.

They let the data dictate what they do.

That is why they got all these free tools for us to use. They are just collecting data.

If you really think about, it's genius.

      My two cents...
