Clickbank vs Adsense vs Amazon Affiliate Programme

Okay so I know this question may have been asked before but I just wanted to get one final conclusion.

-Adsense is easy and it works so long as you have a large amount of traffic.
-Clickbank is less trusted than Amazon and you're less likely to make a sale but your commission is much higher
-Amazon is well known and you're likely to make a sale but your commission is horrendously low

So I just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience using these and which one makes the most? I just want to know if I'm wasting my time with one of them. Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

I use both on my review sites but my main focus is amazon. I'm in niches where the majority of the items I promote are in the $100 range. My monthly amazon sales numbers range between 250 to 300 items which yields about 1K in commissions every month. Adsense adds maybe $100 - $200 additional per month. I tried clickbank briefly but just couldn't convert.

I use all three and clickbank and adsense are my tops out of the three. Amazon is my least favorite because even high price items dont seem to give a good profit.

I like to use adsense for niche keywords that I cant find a good product for. I use clickbank for infromational products mainly.

My favorite affiliate is cj.com They have pretty much everything else you could want to promote.

  • uh oh...two different answers :L oh well, atleast I found out that adsense definitely works.

To marucho: wow, 250 to 300?! That's a hell of a lot of sales! congrats on that buddy But if it's yielding 1K then yeah...low commissions :/ If you don't mind me asking, do you get a lot of traffic?

To hashbury: I'll do a little research on cj, so far I've seen some pretty good reviews so I might check it out. thanks for your help.

Amazon seems to be better than Adsense IMO. But with their recent issues (closing their affiliate program in Cali, among other states) it may be time to start considering alternatives just in case.

clickbank can get you alot more income for the same effort you put in for amazon or adsense over the long term.

keep in mind there are so many other networks, that you can go after, so if you concentrate on affiliate marketing, you have alot of options (e.g shareasale.com, cj.com and many more).

If your traffic is purely Laser target, then CLickbank.
if your traffic is somewhat Not targetted then adsense.
and Laser target traffic converts on AMazon as well. but less commission.

Its hard for me to say what is better, I did read about these ladies that are making thousands everymonth with amazon. They are targeting high priced items. I do like amazon but I am from california and they are threatening to cancel our accounts
I have some info on my blog

I really like Clickbank. If you can get some good content, content that sells well, you have good SEO and you have chosen a product to match your site and content, then you can earn some nice commissions.

I've not been using Clickbank for too long, but I do plan to build many many more Clickbank sites in the future, as I know it is a great way to earn money online.

As for Adsense, I am not a fan of it after looking over it for a while now and reading plenty about it, I will try a site out with it one day, but for the time being, I'll leave it alone

Amazon seems a lot more appealing than Adsense to me, it holds a nice name to itself, so sales can come easier. The commissions aren't the greatest, but I still think it is a nice model and I do plan to try and test it out, but as a backburner as I am focusing on my Clickbank for the near future as I think that is the place to be.

I would recommend Clickbank to you, but that would only be on the premise that you can either write decent enough content yourself or will pay for some good quality content, as the commissions are nice

    Regards,
    Murt@gh

AdSense for pretty much any site, earnings relativly low but predicatable.

Clickbank for sites you can find relevant products to review, revenue can be all over the place, but small amount of traffic can be quite profitable in the right niche.

Amazon though OK, the affiliate revenue share is pathetic, so unless you can generate a lot of traffic it's not going to earn much. I've sold over $400,000 worth of amazon products and it's only made less than $40,000!!! You are better of finding affiliates with revenue shares way above 10%, which is why Clickbank can be so good, up to 75% revenue share.

If your going with CB, I would say build your own product & let other affliates sell for you.

What I hate about most CB products is, the squeeze pages on most products are trying to steal the traffic from the affliates. Example, tons of external non-affliate links on the squeeze page, & email optin on the squeeze page.

As a CB affliate all your doing for 99% of the CB products is driving traffic that you won't get payed for.

That's why I say build your own product, & let everyone else sell it for you. Just treat your affliates better than most CB vendors do & try to convert the affliate traffic into squeeze page sales, not email optins, that's just CB vendor BS IMO!

CB needs to step up & stop the external links + email optins on vendor squeeze pages, for affliate sales. They won't, so it goes to show what kind of business CB is running.

      Hey, nice answer but I have some questions;

      I decided to start with CB or aff marketing in general - have never done something like that before (only 2 months in IM business); anyways;

I already bought a domain but need to wait couple of hours to activate it, I'll throw a blog on it -> write articles based on my niche and put aff links at each post (trying to sell them)... any recommends? I was planning to use clickbank...

I totally agree. This really bothers me -- A LOT.

Sounds great, but what about those of us that aren't in a position to create our own product?

Is there any way get a good, unique product created for us that we can promote/sell? Not the junk that many people offer, but a seriously good solid product?

      Anyone ??

I'd say you've made the right choice there. Over time I've defintely seeing the best results from Clickbank with commissions be so much higher and there are loads of products to promote so its not like your limited. I've never bothered with Adsense because you do need a lot of traffic to make a small amount.

Professor, your approach is just about the most business oriented answer I have ever seen about which one to choose. You are right. Any successful business person will tell you that you have to cater to your target traffic.

I would also like to hear from other big players to see if anyone has any additional input for this.

I am starting my first blog, and I am in the process of trying to figure out who to use to monetize. It is an informational blog designed to teach people, I am not selling anything on my site, so based on what you are saying, I should probably use Adsense. Would you agree?

If you suck at converting buyers like me then Adsense is a no-brainer - get paid for the click, easiest money. Now, if I could sell $97 info products all day long and had the traffic for it, that would be a different matter

I wanted to know if anyone has ever analysed the conversion rates between Clickbank Sales Pages and Clickbank Websites - let me explain:

I feel that, depending on your niche AND traffic, clickbank hops to full websites (not a traditional sales or landing page) might convert better than hops to a sales or landing page.

I think that the complaints about conversion may have to do with that issue. Amazon links take your visitor from your nice website into their nice website (I speak very simply here - I'm sure you're getting my meaning). Adsense, because its very commonplace or search engine familiar, does well with general traffic because they are just looking for general information within the niche and taking another jump into the unknown, basically, when they click on an adsense ad (Text ads I refer to principally).

So I believe there is a harmony between the casual visitor and the casual click through! The click through should match the medium being engaged (my thinking) Not just the keyword, but the ambience and feel of your site. If you are designing a site for adsense, I believe that better results will be had if you build a site in harmony with the Amazon experience - which is happening on a large scale quite naturally IMO. And the same for adsense and clickbank.

If your site general feel and marketing is akin to a landing or sales page experience, then I believe that your click throughs to sales pages and landing pages will seem quite natural for your type of visitor (market).

I also think that many IMers build a site without any of this in mind and then they fill it with any of the three trying, hoping even! ?

Can someone address this aspect - does it matter? Or its just all about traffic?

    Have tried all the three.
    1. AdSense pays well and is a major source of income
    2. Clickbank. Never able to sell anything
    3. Amazon. Never able to sell anything
    4. Independent advertising from some companies are another major source of income.

Like Adsense the most because you just can't fail.
Amazon is ok , but low % .
Clickbank is not my thing, I like to offer real stuff. No promises/claims which mostly aren't true.

I have also seen a successful businesslady emphasize the use of articles as a base for a clickbank product. So pre-selling, pre-qualifying the visitor and pre-disposing them to the offer is your best bet in converting the sale. We're putting too much weight on the product's sales page to do the selling for us. As a previous sales manager, the weight is always in front of the customer. You can have the best product in the universe, but you're the gatekeeper. It's really in your command to get that page converting from YOUR traffic.

At this time I honestly do not know - but adsense is your principal worry here. You need to look at their policies to see if your placement risks your status with them.

I have tried all 3 and also eBay as well as some CJ vendors, but for me AdSense was the winner and still is.

Having said that, I am currently building a few blogs where I will try Amazon, eBay and CJ again. Not planning to try Clickbank at this point (Perhaps I will in the future).

I use all three and make the most with AdSense, second most with Clickbank and third most with Amazon. But my numbers are a bit skewed as I get most of my traffic to my AdSense site, second most to my CB sites and third to my Amazon sites. I think EPC wise, my CB sites do best.
