Article Marketing Help-Manual or Software?

I'm new to SEO and trying to market a relatively new site. I am just going after a couple of local keywords. I won't be competing nationwide for these, just in my city of Tampa, FL.

I have been reading many posts here and it seems that the 3 main linkbuilding techniques are blog commenting, article submission and social bookmarking. I don't think I need thousands of links here. I may be naieve but I think I can get this done naturally without having to spam or use automated linkbuilding software.

I have used Spyglass to evaluate my competitors and none of them have more than a couple of PR3 links. They do have domain age on me though. Not sure how much weight that carries if I have many more high quality links.

I am thinking of purchasing Scrapebox for the purpose of harvesting high value links but manually posting to them and Onlywire for social bookmarking.

I have no idea for the article marketing. I have never written articles so I would like to find a tool that will help me write them and then submit them to wherever they need to go if this exists.

Any recommendations?

Just concentrate on manual backlinking and avoid software even it is useful like scrapebox. But there is also an established opinion that those backlinks from sofware normally does not get longer. You may concentrate on another technique like angela & paul backlinks and this will help you to get those ranking more quickly.Cheers!

You could go with an article submission service that will write articles for you, then submit them, most companies are not too expensive. I like and have always had good luck 4submission.com, although there are a bunch of great ones out there.

        Thanks for the replies.

What are Angela & Paul backlinks?

Any further recommendations on article writing and submission companies or perhaps a link on a good tutorial on how to do it myself?

I do all my articles myself. I outsourced a few and I ended up spending more time editing them than I did on my manually created articles. I've personally never been a fan of most softwares and I do things the old fashioned way. This also ensures my stuff is 100% unique.
As far as blog commenting, I use software and it works pretty decently I think, however i started that the hard way also. I'd search Google and Bing for terms like "do follow blog pr5" and various terms like that.
Do it slow and steady, don't let Google think you're a steam roller popping out of no where!

You can easily dominate most local keywords. While blog commenting and social bookmarking can be effective, I prefer to use a link building network like Build My Rank. I just see much faster results for the same amount of work. Granted, they cost a few bucks a month, but IMO well worth it.

If you don't want to use a network like this, I'd suggest buying scrapebox and learn to use the scraping functions. This will allow you to find high PR pages to comment on.

Never hurts to throw in some social bookmarking, profile links, article links, etc. for diversity.

But for the local stuff you shouldn't have a big problem.

I would like to say, avoid automatic software in link building work because software can never build quality backlinks. In SEO,we always require quality backlinks to get results fast.So try to create backlinks manually and create quality do follow, high PR and relevant backlinks.
    Thanks

for articles I wound up outsourcing to someone in the Philippines to hand submit because I wanted to submit to a certain set of sites. I chose these because they are ranked well and its easy to see the articles and get this links for bookmarking.

    ezinearticles.com
    amazines.com
    goarticles.com
    articlesnatch.com
    articlealley.com
    articlesbase.com

I did not spin any articles.

I do fewer article directories and do more guest blogging these days after finding Guest blogging: Looking for guest bloggers or guest post? Join MyBlogGuest! forum . Guest blogging gets high quality topically relevant links that are better quality than article directories. You also get on a wide variety of domains which helps your link profile too.
