Good day,

I know that some people build websites using blogger and other free blogging options without actually puchasing a domain. Do you think it is possible to make money with Adsense by not purchasing a domain and using a free blog option with a domain like: fishinginamerica.blogspot.com.

If anyone has done this then please share info.

Thanks

Yes, it is possible but do you really want to take the risk of having your blog snatched away from you in a blink of an eye. Unfortunately that is the reality when you use free hosting like blospot.

    I concur!

Eventually, you must get your own space that you control and no one will be able to cut off your legs.

All those free spaces can be used in many ways but you should have a space of your own.

    Hope This Helps!!

There are lots of pros and cons for .blogger.com subdomain blogs and your own sites/blogs.

But I think 'my own' is better, because you get into the rough business sea and need to pay off the domain name and hosting, you get more active, you start to fight for the traffic, etc.

And don't forget that at any second of time blogger.com team has the right to close your subdomain blogs. Even without explaining the details - this is THEIR business, they pay for hosting.

      Be independent!!

The main way that free hosting can be used to your advantage is as a source of backlinks to your main money site. Do a search for blog farms on here and that might help you.

Yes it is very possible. You all need to go visit Grizzley at http://www.makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com

He has many Adsense Sites with only Blogspot addresses. And 7 of his Blogs do each over $100 a day. You do the math per month The one above pulls in over $70,000 a year and its the ugliest Site you will ever see
So much for the fancy Wordpress Blogs, uh ??

That being said I concur with these other guys. Spend the $10 per year so you actually own your Domain. To me its ridicolous not too. You can make the $10 up with just a few Adsense Clicks !!

When someone said they make $$$$$ with free hosting, I smell BS all over.
Free blogs/websites are just low-quality sites for your empire.
Isn't it ridiculous meeting someone with 4-6 figures income with iamrich.blogspot.com in their name card.
Easier for me to believable a 13yo kid saying they make a pile of cash online, when it's posted on his own dot com blog.

Blog is just a tool. Like offline relationship. How you get prospect and partners is more important. Even if you hire the most expert webmaster to build and design $999,999 blog and host it for another $999,999 per month, and you just bluff any dumb thing for your posts everyday. I guarantee 10000%, your star will never come.

Your knowledge (content), your friends (link partner) and prospect (visitor), combined together make the miracle.

Not sure if your Post is being directed towards what I said about this individual in my above Post. But actually,in all due respect I think its kind of ridiculous of you to be spewing generalizations that are NOT backed up by concrete evidence. But if you have doubts about Blogspots and this fellow and his success with Blogspots well the proof is in the pudding. So just go check under the keyphrase 'make money online' which is one of the most coveted keyphrase amongst ALL internet Marketers. And look at the 2nd or 3rd postions on the 1st page of Google and you will see his blogspot address. He is ranked for over 50 keyword phrases like that. Its NOT BS, my friend !! Its for REAL .

And you seem to have taken and dranked the Koolaid and bought into the conventional theory that you have to have a great spiffy looking Blog, build a following with readers, have 5,000 RSS lists etc..etc... To me thats BS and having so called friends who frequent your Blog will get you alot of Traffic without making any kind of sales. You can have your Social Traffic and build it up to thousands and thousands. For me ,Thanks but no thanks.
Lets face it there is MORE than one way to skin a cat. And you seem to be letting your biased views get the best of you. It goes back to the old adage , 'Just because you do not believe it can be done DOESNT mean its not done.' PERIOD !!

I disagree with this. I have about 20 blogger blogs and 7 or 8 wordpress blogs. Both make me money. The one that makes me the most money in adsense is actually a blogger blog. The difference in which sites make more money is the CONTENT - not the platform!

I don't think it makes any difference about where your content is hosted blogger/vs/owndomain. It's the CONTENT that matters.

And do you actually know anyone who has had their blogger blog taken away? I don't. It doesn't make sense for Google to do this (unless of course it's complete garbage/spam blog - but they delist the same for regular spam sites so I don't see the difference).

Oh and do a search for 'make money online'. #1 position is a blogger blog. Case closed.

Just curious... what if someone goes for $5/month web hosting,
and then they claim that they make tons of money online?

What if, in reality, they are making $5.01/month from advertising revenues
(which, in effect, makes their web hosting free)...

...will they come across as more credible than the
"I make $$$$$ using a free blog" group of people?

This reminds me of a blogger who put up a site in Blogspot. Within four
months, he earned $800 (because of AdSense). He then used the money
to buy a domain name and web hosting, which allowed him more flexibility
in terms of what he can place in his website.

Or what about a writer who does not want to handle the techie stuff?
All she wants to do is blog. So she teams up with a techie who provides
her with a search engine optimized WordPress blog. Domain name and webhosting
are handled by the techie, and the writer/blogger does not pay a single cent for those.

But the blogger and the techie share the online revenues of the blog.

Some will say that in that case, it wasn't really free hosting since the techie
shouldered the costs of domain name registration and web hosting.

I dunno... but it sure sounds similar to Google providing the free web hosting
at Blogspot, while the blogger/writer produces the content. And in the end,
Google and the blogger share the online revenues of the blog.

There are many ways to make money online. And doing it with the help of
free web hosting is one realistic way of doing it.

      Kind regards,

I'd have to agree with what's been said. When you don't own your site, it's not really yours, no matter how much content you add or anything else. You should always opt for your own domains/hosting if you can afford it. Going for the free hosting is really doing yourself a disservice.

i use them for free afilliate landing pages, they rank well and blogger has such an easy to use editor. I grab low hanging keywords for the product and throw up a quicl sales page with a link. Is it hugely successful, no but it makes a sale here and there and is free.

Most important is people can find your blog in search engine with the right keyword and contents. No doubt general public has a first impression that free stuff is lower in grade.....but this will chanage if you have a good content.
I am using blogspot which just setup a few days ago and start to give me traffic.

Both have their Pros and Cons. You weigh them and decides !
Personally, I prefer to have my own virtual real estate (VRE) than using these 'free VRE'. However, you still can use them as it is 'free', but you don't have full control of the VRE.

Haha, depend on how you perceive it.
As i state... I don't like using free blogs or depend only on my own site.
I've tried many commercial blogging platforms. They all do things in similar way, except some of them do save my time. It's just a tool anyway. Keep that 3 things on last paragraph on my post above. I found it works, not only in blogging, but just everywhere.

And, I do like each just about the same.
    Own domain:
    - Flexible. You can pull your own tricks here. Most people don't realize and don't do this. You can do a LOT of things even from shared server.
    - Have you ever notice your site is nowhere to be found on google? Even when you have established solid backlinks, this might still happen. Especially on very competitive niche, ie: money making. Some people have a lot of free time and just don't like seeing you on #1 position. You can expect attacks to your server or domain. I have exact keyword domain name which ranked #1. One day i realize that my traffic dropped down. My domain was banned for one or two weeks. I got to do extra homeworks to bring it up again.
    - On low-med competition site. Exact keyword on your domain name plays big role, worthed $10 investation. Just build blog and submit feed to rss directory, done. One or two one-way back link helps. Within couple of days this new domain will be on top.

    Free blogs:
    - You shared with others. Which means if the host die, a lot of people fall down along with you. Don't you feel safer?
    - I rarely see attacks on my free blogs, or not at all. Once it's indexed, it'll always be there.
    - Sub-domain has a lot less weight lately. I feel google reduces this feat. Build more relevant backlink to sum it up.

Conclusion? Use both. Not only blogger, wordpress ... there's more squidoo, hub pages, freewebs, live.
All of them CAN make you money, okay? ... This lines is what you're waiting for, right.
It's there it's free, use it. Only $10, you can make much more from it, buy it.
Well, i could understand some people just like putting their eggs on one basket.

Anyway don't stop on adsense alone. If you have 10 quality free blogs, buy domain and make a niche site. Point those free blogs there for link juice. Make another one, figure out your linking structure. You'll have your own network in now time. Flip it after 1-2 months for quick cash.

I hope you find this usefull rather than "i agree" replies.

I would suggest start with free hosting first. Start free blogs and learn technique called blogging. It's an art really. Don't run for money instead build that bloggin interest inside you. At this time you can try some Adsense technique also. Here if you are failing you will never loose anything as everything is free.

Once you fee you can do it and have a great blog then start with own domain. The main advantage is here you can have backup of your efforts and posts on the blog.

Enjoy blogging as a blog not as money making machine. It's bad that the real face of blogging has changed over with time.

i really don't think there is much difference in having your own host or a free host, about the domain you can easily buy cheap domains even as low as $1. As others stated content plays a very big role and if it is in the right niche then be it blogger or a expensive host with customized wordpress blog you might be able to make big money with it.

Yes. Content is the key. I do a lot of work on blogs as a part-time thing.

I do prefer own hosting instead of free host. Primarily it gives the ability to use those thousands of plugins which help in your blog creation. I do have a bunch of plugins which can get your blog setup in less than 30mins and that too a very high quality professional blogs. Its amazing.

I prefer to buy my own domain. For me I feel that if you are in blogging for long term, better get your own domain and webhosting as you do not know when those free service will start to charge a monthly fees.

By that time if your blog is very establish, moving to your own domain may result in reduce traffic for a period of time.

    Just my 2 cents worth

It is actually advisable to get your own domain and have your site hosted on your own if you wanted to earn big thru internet marketing. If you're site is freely hosted in blogspot, you cannot receive your income 100% because blogspot will get a certain percentage out of it.
