Now why do i get 6-7 unique visitors a day on that blog? is it normal?Site has been open now for 20 days...say that of that 120 people a day seeking for that keyword I get 5-8 percent clicking on my blog?Is it correct
any help is greatly welcome

Check what the EXACT search quantity is. That's what you need to be looking at. You'll probably find it's extremely low and that's why you're not seeing any traffic.

And that is exactly why you are not getting any traffic.

Always use the exact search terms when deciding whether a key word is worth going after or not.

What you need to do now is find additional related keywords to add to your site. Create some more content and pages and add another 6-10 related terms and you can recover very nicely.

In the future try planning it that way from the start. Build a site around a bunch of related keywords so that all your eggs are not in one basket.

That could be right. The thing is that Google keyword tool is notoriously very inaccurate. That along with your position 5 and the low volumes even at the Google estimate could quite easily translate to 5-8 visitors a day.

I would get ranking for some more KW's and go for higher search volumes. Maybe some more generic ones?

Like others have said, check the "exact" search to see the volume. It could be much lower. Also, if there are any major or familiar brands taking up the top spots, they could be sucking most of the clicks away, too.

68% of search engine users click results on the first page of search results, compared to 62% in 2006, and 60% in 2004. See how google improved their search results reliability over the time from 60% in 2004 to 68%. This is a big improvement in the statistical science.

Of this visitors 75% clicks the seconds result, 57% on the third results and only 8% on the tenth results.

so if i have my keyword that has 6600 visitors monthly (broad) it means there are 200 people daily that open that first page and of those 200 roughtly you get 8 percent if your site is in 10th position,am i correct?

Sure the range is in the same range (note it is only an statistical and without deviation factor we can not conclude the exact upper and lower bounds).

Remember that statistically 32% of the users do not even click anything and they change simply they keywords. So you get
200*68%*8% visitors per day if you are in tenth position.

Broad and phrase search totals are really irrelevant when it comes to seo. You have to look at the exact search totals in google's keyword tool to get a better idea of what to expect in terms of organic traffic.

As far as getting 8 percent of the traffic by being in the 10th position, I think that's way too high in most cases; around 2% is more realistic.

You can change these percents only if you use an eye catching title and descriptions.

Where did you get these numbers? Much different that what I have seen. I would really like to see the studies that show that 32% of searches end up going on to the second page as everything I have read puts that number in the low single digits.

This 32% of the visitors do not go to the second page. They just change their search query and give up the current page result.

Only 2% go to the second page.

just an example in google keyword
          if i write
          dog training books
          it gives me

          broad 12100
          exact 2400
          phrase 5400

I have 2400 persons that monthly type in google search the words dog training books am i correct? of this 2400 people optimistically i have 68 percent of this 2400 that click on my page if i am on the first page correct?
what is phrase ..is it people that just puts in the search box of google say

where i can i find dog training books

          or also
where can i find free dog training books?

          or also
the most used dog training books

so this calculation of the percentage 68% is on exact, broad or phrase???

Its probably a mixture of all the three kinds you listed, do not take too seriusly on the percentage.

Prashe is all the keywords that have the excat keywords in the phrase for example "dog training books reviews". Excat is dog training books, phrase is all keyword that contains dog training books and something before or after like "dog training books reviews" and broad is all keywords that have some of the keyword anywhere on the search like " good books for training dogs".
Do not ever use broad or phrase when searching how many visitors your site will get.

so i should always watch at exact to have a better idea of what is expected monthly so in that case would be 2400 it is the best way to be conservative and then consider the percents related to that amount of people first place 68 percent etc etc 8th place in the page 8 percent and so on

Hey flippot, check out the click-through-rate chart on this page, it's a pretty good representation of typical results on the first page of google.

The chart shows 8th position as averaging about 2.91% of the traffic, so theoretically, a keyword with 1000 exacts per month would bring you around 30 visitors a month in the 8 spot.

Yes if 30 people see your offer dont excpect more than 1 sale, its normal that you get one sale in 30-70 people that wievs the offer but if you have good preselling you could get better conversion rate. Its also normal that only one in 100 acually clicks the offer from your site.

Yes, i would say that you will get 1 sale in every 300 persons if you have a decent ste, the conversion rate may be higher if you have a better site and lower if you have a more low quality site. If you sell also depends on how much your wievers are intrested in the offer. Say you have a site very targeted to buy hosting, then the visitors are intrested in hosting and will buy, if you are targeting the keyword "free hosting" then the viewers probably wont buy bescuse they want free hosting.

So how many that buys depends on the content on your site but also on how sell-related the keyword you are targeting is.

Exactly. They are not all going to be buyers, probably most people aren't going to buy. That's why it's so important to get into the top 1 to 3 spots of the search results because that's where all the traffic and sales come from.

Ok, you have probably not a very pofitable keyword, for my sites i always try to rank for "product name review", then i know that the readers are intrested and that they are ready to buy.

What product do you try to promote, a clickbank product, a amozon product? A product from another affiliate network? In some affiliate network can you check how many that clicked on your links. If you know how many that clicked on the links can you say if it was you or the product that made that you havent had any sales yet.

The thing you schould think of now is getting traffic, say your site is targetting the keyword "learn a dog to sit" do another article that target another related keyword like "learn a dog to walk fine", start backlink the article and you will get more traffic to your site from the other keyword. More traffic = More sales = More money

Yes create another article targeting another low compeion keyword, when you have created that article you will get traffic from both your old keyword and the new keyword!
Just remember that it schoul be niche related, for example dont write a weight loss article if your other article are targeting the IM niche.

As i have already said between 50-80 but the conversion rate depends on the quality of your content and how sales related your keyword is.

There is truly no hard and fast rule that 50 to 80 hops is going to result in a sale for every product in the Clickbank marketplace. Some people may convert visitors ever 10 hops, while others may be every 500. There are so many factors that every situation is really unique.

For example, if you were promoting "blue dog collars" and had 100 people looking for a blue dog collar, your conversions would be much higher than 100 people looking just "dog collars" in general.

There are a lot more factors that go into play here, but one thing stands - the more you know and understand your target market and know how to put an offer in front of them that they can't refuse, the higher your conversions will be, plain and simple. However, what one person may do will differ from another, therefore trying to place an average on "number of hops you should get before you make a sale" is pointless.

No gettin a sale isn´t luck, take my word on this: Its how you sell the product on the site and how intrested your visitors are in the product that makes the coversion rate. If you have a site that only target people that are really intrested in buying your conversion rate will be really good but if you have a site that dosent target buyers your site wont have a good convertion rate. Simple as that, its not a matter of luck its who your visitors are and what you give them to make them buy the product you promote.

Right the thing you talking about is preselling , how you make Your preselling is the thing that is the diffrence between a 0.1 and a 0.0001 conversion rate. With a great preselling you could basiclly sell anything but remember that the preselling will be a lot easier when the visitors are already intrested in the product you are preselling.

Anyway if you want to discuss great preselling It would be Better to start a new thread, talking about preselling here is too much off topic.

Don't forget search engine results in your area will be different in other countries, are your results for your area ?
Also some users will click adwords or local business results if thats relevant.
Also serach is becoming more customised to your individual search history so not everyone will see the same results as you.

Why not try paying for adwords which can be targeted to gauge what keywords will work, then write some content on those keywords.

I think 5-8 percent is reasonable, there is a general misconception that many people tend to see the exact search matches optimistically as that amount will actually visit your site if you are ranked number one, infact it is split randomly between the top results with the top result usually getting the most percentage, but like any click through rate it depends on a number of factors
