How important to have your main keyword in your domain URL

Hi All,
This forum is amazing

I am new to internet marketing and I have a question

I see some people suggest to get your main keyword in your domain URL with .com .org .net even with extra letter at the end like x or v but this will lead to a new domain with Google sandbox period

and some people suggest to get expired domain from GoDaddy for 65$

so my question how important is the SEO factor of having your main keyword in the domain URL

IMO, it plays a pretty big role as long as your on-page SEO is good and you send backlinks to it. (As you would with any other site.) I've noticed that "exact match domains" tend to be easier to rank.

      but remember that
you will also try to rank for other keywords

nobody will rank for one main keyword RIGHT??

Its still the absolute best leverage you have in ranking your site for a given keyword phrase.

Even with the efforts by the google search team to de-empasize its power somewhat (which is a testament to its incredible power as an SEO factor), it remains a fundamental part of their search algo and will be for some time.

I chose a fairly long domain name in order to have an exact match, and be able to rank easily for that phrase around the world.
